Brat/rat first chop

Why are you worried about using a tubeless tire with a tube? all that Tubeless means is you don't need one if your wheel doesn't. You can put a tube in one if your wheel needs it. I have one wheel that is tubeless and one that needs a tube but both have Tubeless tires, one with a tube and one without. That's because I have a 79 rear wheel and an 80 front and in 80 the comstars became tubeless.

Well, after researching the matter, for hours on end, I’m very limited on the tires I can choose anyway...... unless I use a tubeless tire and run it with a tube. That’s not going to happen, main reason being I’m not comfortable making that decision. The k70s aren’t available in a 16inch, so that leaves me with Coker, Avon’s, or Stinko classics. I’m going to end up running the stinkos. I run the tubeless on my CB750F and I’m fine with them(especially for the price). There’s one other brand IRC, I’ve never heard of them. The tread looks 70s correct and the reviews are good, but I’ve used shinkos.

Keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully they put everyone on covid19 lockdown, and that will give me some time to finish my wheels. I’ve got everything set and ready go

I think it's fair to say almost all of us run 'tubeless' tires with tubes. I have run 3 sets of Avon RoadRiders on two different bikes, both exceeding 100MPH on any number of occasions with tubes. My KLR650 has Shinko 804/805 tires with tubes...

Not sure which 'tubeless' tires these days are truly designed to not be run with tubes. Tons of modern bikes still have spoked wheels and need tubes - I don't expect any of the modern Triumphs etc. are spoked tubeless rims.

Fancy BMW's are tubeless, but the vast majority of modern spoked rims need tubes, and run all the current modern tires.

Yep, the rules go:
tubeless tire + Tube on tube rims = Yes
Tube type tire + Tube on Tube rims = Yes
Tubeless tire + Tubeless rim no tube = Yes
Tube type tire + Tubeless rim with no tube = NO

Makes sense now. For some reason I was thinking the “bead” would make a difference. Thanks you! You see, that’s why I’m posting here.
That really opens up the possibilities. I may still run the Shinko classics tho.... lol
I would actually prefer something not so wide for the back tho. We’ll see. It’s not time yet, I’ve still got to lace up the wheels.

Paint came out excellent on the rims. I scuffed them, washed them, hit them with some etching primer, primer, then three light coats. Going with 2k clear. I’m stoked. I think it’s going to looks the part

Unless it is a show bike, I wouldn't go for the "classic" looks. There is a reason that they look different now. They are different to perform better. There is no way that I could have ridden my '76 RD400 in '76 like I can ride my '78 GoldWing with modern tires (even though they are Duros).

Definitely won’t be a show bike. It will be nice, but I’m not really into “showing” things. I’d much rather enjoy riding it. I’ll take photos of it for sure, but that’s the extent of it.

Nice job on the rims. If it were me, I'd go Avon Roadriders or if budget Shinko 720 or 230's depending on sizes. I had Dunlops on the GL when I got it and I could ride it ok but when I swapped to the shinko's holy shit night and day on fun factor. Same thing on my CM400, it came with dunlops and when I swapped to Avon RR's it was a whole new bike.

I’ve got 720s on my Cb750f. They are great for the price. I’ve been curious about the Avon’s. May give them I try

Avons are better, but cost more. I go through a rear tire a season and front every other. Shinko 230's are 90% as good handling as the Avons but cost 50% less. On a bike I wouldn't be putting a ton of miles on every season I'd spring for the Avons.

So, I went down a rabbit hole the other night whilst brainstorming. I’ve been moderately obsessing over pin striping and fonts, and that led me to house industries website. They sell some cool stuff, but they sell these sick number plate stickers. I loved them, so I scooped up a set. I’ve been gathering up some options for the tank anyway so what the heck. Here they are

In other news. I mounted a new tire on my Honda. First time doing it on my own. Holy crap..... it wasn’t very easy. I guess it’s something I’ll get better at but dang. I did have pretty good luck balancing tho

Nice, I like those numbers, look a tad large for the tank but that may just be the photo. Tires, the first one is hard, the second a little easier, by the 5th you can do them with your eyes closed. I got the HF wheel change stand and bike adapter and it makes it that much easier as you are not on the floor and it has a bead breaker which is almost always the hardest part.

They are big. I’ve got some other options if I don’t like it. Breaking the bead is exactly what took so long. I manage a tire shop, but for some reason I felt like I should experience doing it on my own at home. It was a pain. At least I know what to expect now

I've used a few dodgy methods before I got the tire changer w/bead breaker and I won't go back to any if I don't have too
