Thanks guys! Now to torque everything down and true them up. I’m still waiting on my inner tubes. I may try to scoop up a set at a local shop. I still have plenty of other things to work on. I’ll sort out the cable length and such.

Then did the valve adjustments. A little bit of mixed information on the valve setting. My book is for 83’. The motor is 76’. Everything I’m reading online says .004 intake .006 exhaust. Anyone know the valve setting? Either way, they were all too tight

You've been mostly-dead all day.

What I know to be correct is .002/.006, so you're loose on the intake. Make sure you're correct on the stroke/cam profile.

Irk means the engine cam profile and stroke length, there are I think 3 different ones depending on model year. That may give different settings.

Ohhh... dang, that makes sense. Hmmmm. I’m going to have to find a 76 shop manual I guess. I’ve got one for the 83, and I can’t find anything reliable on the internet. Or I haven’t had any luck yet

I did find that bore and stroke is
75 x 74mm on the 76 and the 83. Still haven’t found the cam profile

I did find this...... one guy’s opinion based on possible research. I’m not sure of its credibility, but thought it was interesting. Particularly the section on cams where he talks about clearances. Any validity to these claims? http://www.smedspeed.co.uk/tech.html

Alright so I reached out to Hugh from Hugh’s hand built. Solid guy. He says there was a factory addendum to set the valves at .003 and .006. Honestly, everyone is really close to each other’s suggestions. When I check mine, however, 3 of them were slammed tight. Also, looking into the tappet hole, you can see the cam has been ground
