Brodie's XV1100

A little bit of epoxy paint goes a long way.

I am 90% done with the rear end, just need the tool roll to go behind the seat and it should be set.

Also made a mount for the TCIP4 out of some alloy and double sided tape. Mounts to the stock point and the com cable is accessible from the side. Not overly happy with how close it is to the reg/rec but it should be ok.

Thanks. Slowly getting there. Still feel the back is missing something.

PM sent.

Changed out the clutch today. Old plates were a bit worn out. The engine looks a lot cleaner in this side. Had help from the workshop cat.

Well the new clutch works a whole lot better. Little bit of fun with the back end stepping out when accelerating out of a corner a bit quick.

Can't wait to sort out the exhaust and see what she can really do.

The carb to airbox adaptors arrived today. They are a simple stepped bit of alloy tube. Interference fit over the carb and extends 20mm out from the end. They help the stock air system fit well. Pictures soon.

I also have the new front cam cover with breather to replace the rear one but it did not come with a hose fitting. I will have one spun up at work once I am back.

All good. Uni tests are way more important.
How are the new advance springs for the XS holding up?

Faster!
Sweet. Pinging is gone, now all I have to do is find some time to build a new exhaust and then tweak the carbs to suit.

I'll be back in my workshop later today and I have a USB stick with me.

Oh and, there's some updates (!!) coming next week with regards to the new engine.

I have started thinking about this bike again.
Just have to get the XL sorted then I will drag this old girl out again.

Front and Rear on a cold engine. Looks like I can rule low compression out if the running issues I was having.
I might give it a wet test to see if anything changes.

Bit the bullet and bought a set of '96 XV1100 fork legs that are clean with no pitting. Hopefully they fit and solve my fork leak issue.
Not sure if the '96 forks are a straight swap. My current set are the older air type. The '96 look to be the latter standard type.

New forks on.
Started on cleaning up the front wiring.
Waiting on some headlight ears.

Doesn't need to be too pretty. It will be the new daily beater so I don't need to leave the W out in all the bad weather we have had of late.

I'm not sure why but this bike intrugues me. There are times when I look at it and just can't stand the thing then other times I look at it and want one for myself! Either way it looks to be a really great daily mule; competent, solid, and steady. Keep on building, brother.

That about sums up how I feel about this bike.
It doesn't seem to lend itself to any shape very well. It is a small cruiser masquerading as a large cruiser.
That and the fact this has always been a "rat bike" leads it to be a perfect daily. Need some saddle bags and to get the exhaust sorted.
