This is money well spent I am sure, doing good electrical will save you sooo much frustration down the road.

Exactly! That is what I was thinking.

I'd much rather only do my electrical one time and do it right one time!

That will be were I get my supplies for the next bike I need to re-wire completely I hear only good things about them.

That's the supplier for 99% of my connectors I order.

That is good to know! At least i know i'm getting something quality! Now I have no excuse if my harness looks like shite!!

Hopefully i"m almost done bleeding money...
Ordered:
Exhaust gaskets
Intak manifold/gaskets (mine were cracked)
Alternator gasket
Plugs
Velocity stacks
Paint for engine cases
Paint for small brackets
quality mask for painting
Solid aluminum riser mounts

11 hrs from start to finish. But the frame is painted and the engine cases are painted wrinkle black.
I'm actually quick surprised how well the frame paint turned out. Considering. It was brushed on!! And I ordered about for about 3 bikes! To bad it had a short shelf life! About 1-2 months unless I purge the cans with argon!

I still need to paint the rest if the bits and pieces gloss black

Nice work. You should give the paint to someone to use if you cant. It would suck to let it drie up. Or go around the house painting things wrinkle black.

Thanks!
I used vht wrinkle black plus for the engine cases. I used rust bullet for the frame, it came out a gloss black.

Well, after drying the night. Most of my frame blistered and peeled off with my finger nail. So I spent 5 hours sunday scrapping off all the paint. To avoid another headache! I found a shop in town that will coat my frame for $100-110 if it is blasted, and maybe 20-25 more for small misc pieces, if its a standard black he is usually shooting. Wish i woulda known this a few weeks ago before i ordered this. Lesson learned i guess!! An expensive one, but a lesson learned!

In there directions it says i can top coat when no transfer to a gloved finger. in about 2-4 hours. So i recoated it after 4 hours. But deep down in there online FAQ, it say you can recoat after 2 hours, but recommended to wait 24 hr. Well shite... The other thing that cold of happened. Is it say if brushing to apply in a cross hatch pattern. But that isn't really capable on 1" tube. Or i put it on too thick. Which this is hard to put a light coat on. Its like painting with snot!!

Frame and a few bits are dropped of at the sand blaster, they'll be done tomorrow. Then I'll drop the frame off to the coater. Wishful thinking but it'd be awesome if they had my frame done by the weekend! They said they have it done a day or 2 after it's dropped off!!

Dropped the frame off to the powdercoater. Going with a gloss black, he said it has teflon in it. Hopefully it'll stay cleaner :)

Any way should have it back early next week. Got a hell of a deal. $90.00 for my frame and 16 other pieces! Its getting so close to being done, I can smell the exhaust!! I'm getting anxious to ride it!

Nice deal. you can find those in powder when you are getting a standard colour like black, they shoot for a big customer who pays full price and then they tagg on some smaller stuff that will fit in the ovens and on the line at the same time and it is all profit after the cost of powder. If you asked for red or something I bet it would have been double or triple. Good thing black should look great on the bike.

I kind a figured that was the case. They are an industrial powder coater. Not a custom shop. So they shoot black allot. When I dropped stuff off they were coating John Deere parts.
Only hassel was I had to have them blasted and then bring them in, so it was a bit of a hassel. But worth saving almost $175.00+

Only crappy thing is the sand blaster messed up a little bit of my vin tag, luckily they didn't hit the numbers. I had the vin tag covered with 6 layers of duct tape. But they had to touch a couple spots up that they forgot, when i was talking to him he lifted up the tape to see what it was. And where he lifted the tape off came up. Its sucky, but i think i'll hit that area up with some black touch up paint and call it a day..

The "custom" shop in town wanted $300.00 for just my frame in black. That did include blasting though.

I really wanted to have my bike done for Vintage Torque Fest in town this weekend. That was my original completion date I had in mind when I started this project a year ago. Oh well, shite happens. I need to have it ready to roll soon. There is a Hardtail ride mid June I signed up for. Come hell or high water, I won't be the one making Vroom Vroom noises in my basement, and will be riding it soon well before that! I'm impatient and determined at this point!

LOL the joys of building. My CX winter project last year was supposed to be on the road in May, got there in October, just in time for the GL to break so I had something to ride the last month of season. At least the GL got back together on track this year. Good luck, can't wait to see the finished product as you have been doing a great job so far.
