Re: The Count Mount Zeke's El Montadero 360

Colors sanding using a Harbor Freight mini 3" d/a and a Harbor Freight 6" d/a polisher. 3M Trizact 5000 grit foam discs.

I have a confession. This build we have been trying to use as many air tools as possible to cut my the build time down. Used the Dynafile on the frame and sprayed it.

All the prep work for the tank and cowl were done with the 3" d/a. The hand color wet sanding was done with 600, 1000, and 2000 but that will be replaced with the small d/a next time.

The aluminum cases were sanded with the 3" d/a and then bench polished.

my Wife is very happy that Zoöid won't be around too much longer (about a year) and then we will be handing it over to Fuller next year at Barber.

Re: The Count Mount Zeke's El Montadero 360

I have a question. How much time did y'all spend aligning the forks every time you took a spill?

Took me two hours to align the front end. Bultaco's front end tolerance on the triples seems a little loose.

There is a definite sequence for aligning the front end of a Bultaco.
1: Jacked up the front end after assembled.
2. Removed the stanchion plugs..
3. Loosened all bolts.
4. Rotated the fork tubes to find least amount of stiction inserted and into top triple.
5. Aligned like a bicycle.
6. Tightened lowered triple bolts.
7. Tightened the lower fork tube pinch bolt on the left side.
8. Tightened the axel nut.
9. Tightened the right lower pinch bolt.
10. Tightened the stanchion plugs.

Needs a for brace.

Don't let the caswell cure in the petcock threads!

We used an old petcock and heated the end up to loosen the epoxy.

Re: The Count Mount Zeke's El Montadero 360

I am still scratching my head how in the heck did my timing end up firing at TDC.

So I put the verneer gauge in and checked my timing. The points were breaking at TDC...well they needed to be breaking at 3.30-3.50 mm BTDC for the Bandido and 3.00-3.10 for the Montadero. It looks like my woodruff key maybe suspect??? For on closer inspection it looks non existent.

Now the newer electronic ignition Bultaco's had an electronic ignition but this has a magneto. According to the instruction it requires Bultaco's 110v timing light. Which I don't have.

So I reset the timing using the been we gage and yes I had to turn the points plate almost to the other stops clockwise from where it was set. So if it was the woodruff key why...I am still scratching my head. Unless I set it ATDC because I was thinking it rotated clockwise instead of counterclockwise?

Talked with Lynn Mobley and he said with a half kick it can recoil and run backwards.

just think Zeke and I didn't know a two-stroke from a four stroke three years ago and now we can make a 2 stroke go backwards!
