Cafe Racer Music?

RadioPaul said:
bradj, my statements in regards to Rollins Band was simply that I think the original Ghost Rider by Suicide kicks ass on his cover of the song, but I don't like slow drone grind music like Rollins Band. I respect Rollins as an individual and figure he worked damn hard to get where he has. I just like old school punk and after he joined Black Flag they changed.
kool man i can respect that even if i dont agree

I will second your Link Wray bradj. My current leather and the one that preceded it both have had Link Wray painted onto the left arm. To say that I am a major fan would be an understatement; 15 albums (vinyl) plus a lot of 45s. I alos get to be in the fun position of playing Link Wray on the radio and furthering the cause of righteous rock 'n' roll.

For me it's Dick Dale and Link Wray when I ride. Not what most would term cafe music but bad ass none the less.

Man you guys have covered alot of ground here. Where to start...

You guys have pretty much got all the oldies, cept I gotta add T. Rex. Not really cafe, but alot a hot rod/car inspired stuff.
3. Jeepster

Here's a weird one, and a very intersting story there too.
Hasil Adkins The Slop

Brad,Shit yeah Link Wray is the man, and a N.C. boy as well!
Link Wray - Switchblade
And Slayer, the hardest fastest, meanest, most evil band in the fucking world! SLAYER!!!!!!!!! This really gets me moving.
Slayer - Angel Of Death
And if your into Thrash, Testament
Testament - Practice What You Preach
and D.R,I.
D.R.I. - Beneath The Wheel

Von, man I thought I knew music. Sheesh. I dig the hell outta some early industrial.
Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod (Redline/Whiteline Version)

The wife grew up on "dark wave". (We saw Peter Murphy last month) Me, on metal/punk and oddly- blues.
Somebody once said "if you don't like the blues, you've got a hole in your soul."
My all time fav bluesman, Howlin' Wolf.
Howlin' Wolf Smokestack Lightning

If you like blues check out fat Possum Records. Its a couple of guys going out to the sticks and finding real roots blues. The early stuff they did, like remixing RL Bunsides stuff into dance stuff was wacky. But they've settled into some good stuff. Dig it. Skip past the emos and click on the pics for the crusty black guys. It worth it.

Every time I accomplish something new in the garage after hours and hours of silence, I play LINK WRAY and have a beer whilst finishing up the job and cleaning up.

Haven't been near a computer for a while with a chance to check in. Glad to see new contributions and all the Link Wray love, If you're talking Link, then his Turnpike USA would be the most direct contribution. Speedfreak, if you're throwing Howlin' Wolf in, well his contribution in the car field would be Cadillac Daddy. Hasil Adkins was definitely a motorcycle rider. I have two 45s that feature Hasil on a bike. one looks like an old bootleg type, but the other that may still be available on Norton Records. He has a dog sitting on the seat and tank in front of him. And Qasamm, Dick Dale is always appropriate. He did a ton of hot rod themed songs, but I can't think of a specifically motorcycle one. Fans of rockin' oldies can catch my one hour show, Buried Treasure, streaming at www.knnd.com at 11 am west coast time Tuesday.

Good stuff there Speedfiend. Not that familiar with Zeke but they do come up on my Turbonegro Pandora station. Think it's time for their own station. :)
