Might be worth it for parts?

Grab that and the parts one down in SB and you're set!

That has been up for the last 6 months. I am considering it for the forks and swing arm for my RD350.

The FZR400 frame and swingarm are widely used in the track/race crowd. Definitely pick it up and the $25 one and you'd have one hell of a bike.

That sounds great but I think after the divorce those bikes and my RD would be all I have left.

My wife is totally cool with me throwing money at the RD but anything else before it is finished would be a bad idea.

Might be worth it for parts. Or might be a cool build.

Wish that was local to me. Would love to throw my H1 motor into that chassis...

Not craigslist but here in Canada we use Kijiji more.

Yesterday I bought this poor bike off of Kijiji... (sorry ad is gone)

A Suzuki GS450 that had the top end "fixed" "all you need to do was buying gaskets and putting the top end back together".

I show up and the first thing I see on the bike is this awesome cafe race handle bar. A straight pipe with tape around the triple area to get it to the correct diameter.

The top end is back on but nothing is bolted down.

ME -So... tell me about the mechanical problem. What were the symptoms?

HIM- "Oh the bike was not getting enough air"

ME - No not your diagnostic, the symptoms! What was the bike doing or not doing?

HIM - "It would not start up easily or run correctly" ... "because it was not getting enough air"

HIM - "but I fixed it!" "I removed the top part (he doesnt know what its called)" "I cleaned all of it and now it will get enough air" "All the is left to do is bolt it back together with new gaskets"

Me - Because what you just told me, I have to assume that the Cylinder head you worked on is junk.... I proceeded to offer him less than half the asking price.

HIM - "Oh no there is another guy that is will to offer me full asking price" (which I know if complete bullshit)

ME - Even if that guyz exists, he will change his mind when he sees the bike with his own eyes.

So I then bought the bike and brought it home. Parting it tout today:

Here is this guyz's fix. He chiseled at the head and valves with a hammer and a flathead screw driver to get the carbon buildup off. Chiseled so hard that the valves are completely gouged.

I'm sure to some this will make me sound ignorant, but what about that bike makes it worth anywhere near 2k? Must be rare?

With a title the bike "might" sell for 5-600 where i live. but looking at the frame id say that thing is probably only worth a couple hundred in parts. if it was original mint he might get 8-12k for it.... straight to japan. i don't understand how people just leave bikes like that to start with

BECAUSE IT IS A NEW YORK STEAK

“We knew that in America the best meal on the menu was New York steak. In our minds, the Z1 was going to be the best motorcycle we could make, the top of the menu.”

I had a (shared and paid for by the company) porterhouse at Peter Luger's and I would say that steak was worth more that that Z in current form, I have a 76KZ1000 I could clone as a Z1 for less than 2grand.... HMMMMM

I have thought about buying. It is about a 2 hour drive and he has dropped the price down to $500 from $1000. But I traded in my little Ford Ranger and now have a car that I can't haul bikes in. I just want the forks and swinger.

That FZR4/6 is a total bargain if it can be registered or use it as a track day tool. Have never seen one rotted and spare 600 motors are not hard to find and not hard to make more power than any H1 Typical race FZR400 makes about 70-72hp at the rear wheel and a 600 can make more without too much work.

Great little bikes.
