CB200 'project 354

Pretty sick project, I've got a 75' CB200T myself and was wondering if there were any sick builds out there. Have any good links to your inspiration?

ok so out project has been a slowed a bit....but i got an email from my mate who just picked up the frame from the welders and its amped us up abit to get it crankin again :)

pics are a bit hard to see but the guy welded up some intricate (and clever!) brackets that bolt to the seat and then to the frame.

i havent seen it in person but we'll work on it this weekend so i'll post up some clearer photos.

needless to say, we are well pleased with how that's turned out...and we're one step away from powdercoating now.
this weekend we'll fill any holes in the frame we dont need and sand it back lightly before sending it to the pcoaters.

in the meantime, i've mocked up another coupla schemes to visualise colour combos etc.

(we're all pretty happy with the black/black combo so this might be the goer)

also tried something with the stock colour scheme

more to come in the following week!

keogan: most of the inspiration for our build has come from here! there are a coupla really awesome CB200 builds with lotsa good ideas.
also....there is this thread on my local forum that is often daily updated that might whet your apetite :)

allrighty

today we dismantle the forks so we could send the fork legs off to get powdercoated

we also prepped our frame and filled the holes ready to powdercoat next week.

managed to get some better photos of the brackets we got made up/welded for the seat.

a quick test fit with the rearsets and it seems they are a perfect fit in the existing pillion peg brackets :)

next week there'll be photos of a nice shiney frame + other bits.

well we got our parts back from the powdercoaters

overall, not bad but they powdercoated right over our vin compliance plate! even though i had taped it up. grrrr

anyhow, not the end of the world.

onto the pics

Cool man, I think next week I'll be ready to paint my frame. Your project is coming along well
Kev

thanks kev:)

so more progress....well not much. another hot day meant we didnt get a whole lot done :)

bolted the seat up. fits nice and solid.

re tapped the threads for the rearset mounts. their position where the pillion pegs used to be are perfect and give it a good stance.

also pressed in the bushings for the swingarm and bunged it on roughly with a shock to get a (blurry iphone) pic.

well...after long break of a whole lotta sfa we decided to get things moving again

so next thing to turn our attention to were the fork stanchions.
they had a small bit of surface rust and light pitting so we just sanded it back, masked it up and hit it with some acrylic satin black.
most of it will be hidden anyway with the triples, headlight mount, indicator mounts and clipons.

you can still see the light pitting through the paint. we thought since most of it will be covered up theres not point filling and sanding it back.

hopefully if monday isn't too killer hot, we can reassemble the forks, hit the rest of the triple with a sand and a lick of paint and smash out the whole front end.

I really like your bike, and the look and stance will be right on the mark. I would school your powder coater a bit. He should have put paper temporary plugs in all the machined holes and dummy bolts in all the threaded holes. I'm not being critical to you just in saving a lot of clean up after coating. I'm looking for a 160/175/200 for my next project.
Cheers, 50gary

Lookin' good guys! I am doing the same thing to the tubes on my 200. Its 10 degrees here so the heat is on in the garage, you guys have it made if its too hot ;D

yeah 50gary.....we've had previous jobs done with our powdercoater and they did a good job...
this time they seemed to have dropped the ball though and just been plain lazy. but oh well. you get what you pay for i spose...

stik70: i think all 200 tubes suffered the rust/pitting problem! we had 6 stanchions to choose from and those were the best! you should see some of the others....
today is 40 deg.....i think all work on the cafe is on hold for now :)

today was humid like a mofo

anyway we finished up the forks
