CB200 'project 354

What wheels are you going with? I have a CB200 that I want to change to a drum brake but am having a hard time finding what will fit.

I'm pretty sure a 175 drum front will fit. You might be able to put a 350 front end on there too.

CB160/175, CB77, and 450 or 350 can all be persuaded to work. We have one CB160 with CB200 forks and a CB77 " front wheel and another with CB450 hub and brake.

we got some spare wheels with ours that also came with drums for the front. (they are stock too)
so its literally a straight bolt on job to the forks.

i think the 74 model was drum and 75 was disc? or something along those lines...

just picked our rims up from the powdercoaters today. we decided not to go chrome and try matte black instead.
now to take our hubs apart, send them to get blasted and spend some time polishing them up.

s'been a long time since we've worked on the project but finally got the ball rolling again today.

a month ago we marked off the fenders and bobbed em.

currently, we're about to send some stuff of to chrome.

the next goal is to rebuild the wheels and mount them to have a properly finished rolling frame.

got our wheels back from the powdercoaters ages ago but didnt get round to posting a photo of em.

we went for matte black. Hopefully it'll look good with chrome spokes and hubs.

so today we finally moved the engine from the floor to the bench as our attention will turn to it once we finished the rolling chassis

and thats the extent of our progress. pretty slow but thats the way it goes.

next update should be good though:) fresh shiney wheels...mounted and with shiney new bobbed fenders.

then the fun really starts with the engine.

so yesterday we got our parts back from the chromers.

we want the lip of the hubs to be black so the chromed ends of the spokes will set it off nicely.
so tonight we got to masking and painting.

tomorrow is the fun part we've been waiting a good two months for! lacing the wheels :)

Looks awesome! Keep up the killer work!
I wish chroming wasnt so effin' expensive, as I want a chrome frame for the R5 SOOOOO badly.

There's some great work goin on here! Keep on posting updates, will ya?

cheers guys.

today we pulled off the masking to reveal the black lip on the hubs.
knocked the bearings and other bits and bobs back onto them.

overall. notice the bobbed chromed front and rear fenders too :)

so the rolling chassis is almost 100% now.

next weekend we'll get some hoops on the rims and get them all trued and balanced.
then sort out a few minor things with spacers and bracing and bits and bobs.

then off shopping for some cool road gear.

Following your build.
Keep up the good work, if my CB200 looks half as good as yours when I'm done I will be happy!

Looking great. Noticed the west eagle tag on your seat. Where did you find that seat? I checked their catalog and all they had was chopper/bobber style seats.

Great job, mates. Looking forward to the rest of the build. How's the mill looking - much work? Looks like it'll cost a bob or two by the time it's finished - was there a budget?

Anyway, greetings and congratulations from Pommyland

cheers guys

thanks mate:)
nah we havent touched the go parts since we last left it. there wasnt really a budget....and since this is a shared project between three of us...the budget is about three times bigger! haha...when we divide everything by three we havent spent much on it individually .

but thats probably change once we start on the engine! full rebuild. yikes..

Great work fellas, I just have one question. Are you going to fix up the mounting point for tail end of that seat? It kinda looks off to me with ass end of the frame sticking out of the back of it.. Just my opinion thats all.

Overall you guys did an awesome job. How hard was it to lace up those wheels? I'm thinking about trying my hand at that as well.

yeah you're right it does stick out a bit, but there is a cross member that provides structural suuport for the seat so we can't hack it off :(
anyway, we figure with the new bobbed chrome rear guard there and once the rear light and numberplate goes on it won't be such an eyesore.

the wheels arent that hard to lace once you understand which spoke goes where! if i did it by myself i reckon i'd still be there trying to figure it out...luckily one of us knew what he was doing and when he explained it out it was fairly simple...you learn through trial and error :) good luck!
