CB550F Cafe Interceptor

This exhaust is not an original Yoshimura. It’s a counterfeit badge to appear as a Yoshi pipe and you really don’t want to know where it came from. Trust me. This is the second exhaust system that I’ve received, and both have had quality and fitment issues. This one is coming off tonight and being returned to the company that built it. I’ll reinstall the chrome Kerker system that I’ve been using till this nightmare began in February. At least it’s over now.

oh wow.. sorry to hear that.. is no one making decent Yoshi replicas for 550's any more?

Well it looks like I’m down to the last couple of decisions before spending the summer racking up the miles. That is if summer ever arrives on the wet coast.

I have a black Kerker megaphone and a chrome one and I think I have already made up my mind which one I like better, but I’d like your opinion too.

Brother FunJimmy I love your bike man, it is so well done that I am always happy to see new photos of it!

The exhaust would be a hard decision for me, I might just have to switch pipes every other day! Hahahaha! I think the black pipe adds a nice balance of color to the bike because it matches the front forks and I really like that you can read the kerker emblem on it easily but it is propably not a fair opinion because I really like flat black!

Either way your bike is truly outstanding!

personally, I think the chrome pipe looks more classic. that would be my choice.. i'd go black if your bike was more raw or streetfighter..

It's not often that you come across a find like this but when you do you can't hesitate.
Original Yoshimura billet steel Daytona camshaft!

I like the angle of the chrome one better; I also like the classic styling of the chrome one that seems to suit the overall style of your build better. As for the black one, well the badge it sports is certainly more appealing and has a more performance driven look. When the dust settles though, the chrome mega with the black badge just seems like the best of both worlds. No matter which one wins out for you, it will still look great!

Where are those bottom triples from?

With a little break in the weather I took the bike out for a couple photos to see how the black triples fit in.

Absolutely amazing. This has to be the most well done project I've ever seen. The attention to detail is miraculous, and your engineering is the same. The use of lightweight materials blows my mind. What type of weight did the bike lose? Can not wait to see the dyno numbers. WOW what a bike. Seriously in awe of your attention to detail.

To the untrained eye this is a fancy painted CB550F, But to the trained eye a unending rollercoaster of amazingly executed details.

The one off machined bits, make this bike a beautiful "Classic Gentleman's Cafe" This is the motorcycle equivalent of a well prepared '57 Chevy Retro Rod with Corvette running gear and all Power Windows /AC.

Don't get me started about the thread, Not surprising that someone responsible for such a well thought out bike, would write a well photographed, well documented and written "Article" on it's build. Not too much, not to0 little. Great Pics, Good explanations. I wish they were all as easy to read.

One last word.....probably for the 50+ time ....WOW!

The Interceptor was a lot of fun to ride last year, but even without all the additional engine work this winter, the clutch would slip coming on the power at around 7K so I ordered a Barnett extra plate kit from Dynoman Performance.

yeah +6 to what everyone else has said. i just finished reading through everything. apparently you know your way around fab work. from machining to composites. unbelievable build.
