CBR600F2 project

I've been making some more progress on the F2 and it's starting to come together. Most of the work recently has been cleaning up/detailing of small parts, fasteners, and minor components, as well as some prep/painting of the smaller stuff. I have a rolling frame now which makes things a lot easier.

Next on the list...

mount the wiring harness
put the motor back in the frame
mount the radiator
install rearsets and rear brake
prep/paint the fuel tank

That's awesome looking - first post I saw since we moved the site to a new hosting provider - can't wait to see it progress.

Installing the wiring harness and playing around with the tail light position. The stock mounting tabs will work great, I just need to make a couple brackets to extend the new light back about 3 inches from where it is in the photo. The battery will sit in front of it, underneath the tail piece.

I also played around a bit with paper and scissors to see how much room I have to hide a battery, and to start making some templates for the seat and tail section. I put the tank on to help visualize things and start thinking of how I want to paint it.

thanks. It is good to make some progress, Im just doing a bit here and there when I have time. I'm looking forward to getting it fired up. Ive been doing more work on small stuff like mounting controls, wiring stuff up, putting connectors on, soldering.

left hand controls. clutch perch will be black I think, with smaller locknut. here I'm test fitting it all for final wiring.

cleaning the carbs. float needle valves all look good. jets are soaking in carb cleaner, they were DIRTY.

a few more photos as things come together. the motor went in. I decided to leave it mostly bare metal, and will paint the clutch/stator covers, and starter motor. I am not sure about color yet, either black or gray.

I have had this voltage gauge for years, it is reportedly from a WWII fighter aircraft. It fits nicely with the style of the bike, and I think I'll try and find a spot for it. This week, I will try to do some more painting, and get the exhaust pipes ready for VHT paint.

I am considering adding a small front fairing (cafe style) to the bike. This is an old Shoei designed for a CB750 I believe. If I trim it down, it may be a nice way to house a 7" headlight and hide some wiring and stuff. I've been playing around with some different cut lines, and I am still undecided if I will use it or not. The hardest part would be mounting it.

Don't do it!!!!! With the cut lines, it almost looks like ANY other cafe-style fairing for a 7" light...

Butcher something ELSE!!!!! PLEASE!?!?

that Duc does look sweet with that fairing! I would be curious to see how it mounts up.

The shoei is what I have. I could get creative with how I cut it, and maybe keep some of the batwings. It could be unique, especially with the squared off look and angled chin. I'm just not sure how it will work with the overall look of the bike. I really won't hesitate to chop it, since it's damaged.

The other option would be to cut off the bottom half of the headlight hole and go with a dual HID setup. At this point I'm just thinking it all over. time will tell what ends up at the front.

photos taken along the way. 1.motor in the frame. that was fun doing it on my own. 2.clutch and stator covers painted semi-gloss black. 3.first round of bondo on the tank to fix a small dent.

all coming together, even if slowly.

look at some herritage HD's for a nice 7in headlight! they are H4 even

thanks. so I take it HID is the way to go. I really dont know a lot about aftermarket headlights. I need to do some research. The other lighting thing I would like to do is place some hidden red LEDs in the undertail, that only light up with the brake light on. high visibility.
