I didn't know you from the New Mex Jared - I used to live in Clovis. And what is the electrical problem you're having? I must have missed it......

Re: 1969 Honda CL350 Type 1 cafe build! Riding Holly is going to be fun! :D

Thanks for the feeback guys! And I used to live in new mexico on and off a few different times. Last year I lived in ABQ and when I was about 8 I lived in Clovis! Small world, but I was a military kid so I was always moving around. I am currently now in Colorado Springs. Oh and Big Rich, I recieved points and the advancer from Rocan as well as some new NGK resistor caps. I set all of it up, and bam no spark. So I will tool around with it and see what happens, my battery was a little low at 12V. I will hopefully get it resoloved before I get carbs. And I actually have a deal with a guy with some carbs that are in great shape so its coming together real quick!

Re: 1969 Honda CL350 Type 1 cafe build! Riding Holly is going to be fun! :D

Alright guys, I bought some knock off VM30's with a custom intake from Mike (VonYinzer) from what I hear they are just as good and they were new. Kevin(Stik) also made me a starter block off. So the bike will be running much sooner than I thought! I just need to buy oil and root around in my wiring to see what went wrong. I also repainted the engine because the sanded fins looked really ugly lol! Oh and pics will be up soon!

Alright guys this is that big update. The carbs that I ordered from Yinz came and so did the starter block off that Stik made me. I want to thank both of you. Anywho, here are some pictures and a video.

Also I resolved my no spark to anything issue, it was simpily the new points and to tell you guys the truth I have no idea why that is, but the bike seems to prefer the old ones. It is still giving me the same issue of not having spark to the right plug. I am starting to think it is the coil that I had to re-solder two wires on. So here are the pics can anyone tell me if I got those little bastards flipped or what? Yellow wire-

I need some imput on the spark issue guys, anything?

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Well spoke to a few guys on the Chat, and the wires are not flipped, but it's either a dead coil but more than likely it's my shitty solder job that I did on that yellow wire. No problem now I just need to re-solder it on(I learned how to solder a few months back). Throttle cable is ordered, and now I just need to seal the block off as well as get the points adjusted and give the old girl some oil. Oh and I thought of a name, Sucker Punch. And no it's not because of the movie, I had some shit happen in my life that I can only describe it as that, a sucker punch. Plus I think it's fitting because the bike is always throwing me unexpected blows lol!

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

i like the helpful input shown on this thread. keep it up. every time a 350 comes back to life and angel gets its wings. they only get one wing for 360's

Is that why they are 360's, cause the angel just keeps flying in circles.

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Plus 1 on those guys lol! Well the issue wasn't my shit solder job on the coil, just simpily the fact that the coil is dead. I still cannot get spark from her. So I at least need one new one if anyone is willing to sell one. I also put the kick stand on today, but it has to be on the right side because on the left part of the bracket literally broke away from the frame. I kinda like it though, just makes it more different.

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Sorry, just now saw your thread. For future reference, there are a couple simple tests in the manual for a dead coil using the continuity function on a multimeter. Had to do those tests on a buddy's 350 the other day.

Hope you get her running soon!

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

I'll have to check it out, the resistance was 4 ohms, but I don't know I am just not getting any spark. And I tested all of the connections and they are all good, and so is the plug lead.

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Alright, I wanted to share something special with you guys. Today is my one year anniversary from the time I bought the bike. She has come quite a long way. So here is a current update video for you guys shot today. Oh and check out my YouTube channel if you guys want. Anyways here is the video...

Big update on the CL350 (YTO Day 19)

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Okay guys I decided I am going to mount that huge Universal Power battery under that rear arch. I have an idea of using my first sk8 board as part of the tray. Any suggestions on how I can do that cleanly?

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

A year later and that's all that's done? ;D

Kidding man, you're doing fine. The stand on the right won't affect anything as far as the bike is concerned. It may develop a bad habit for you or anybody else that rides the bike though. And I can't speak highly enough of Dyna coils. Any new coils will make a world of difference, but with Dyna you just know it's running at it's peak.

Can't help much with the battery tray - sorry.

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Lol! Yeah budgets kill dude! And true about the coils, I may just buy some used ones and call it good. And the battery tray is pissing me off! I dont know how exactly to mount it under the seat or what.

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Well guys not to much going on with the bike. I ordered a CL175 throttle cable to go with those mikuni's because Yinz recommended it. But on the negative side, I think the reason why I don't have spark to the right cylinder is due to a bad coil. So I am thinking about buying just a dual output 3 ohm coil from mikesxs.com. Are there any suggestions on how this could bite me in the ass later, or is it a good plan? Let me know!

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Well I ordered a throttle cable about 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived to my place yet. Not that it is the determining factor since I have a dead right coil.

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Throttle cable arrived, now I just need one damn ignition coil and we are running!

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Sorry about no updates for awhile. Let me tell you guys something most of you have told yourselves- Budgets suck.
