Colorado Crew!!!!!

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

This is a good way to start a tool collection.

Add screwdrivers, pliers, and then start buying tools as you need them...that's how i built mine.

A good work bench with a vice mounted to it will help a ton, too.

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

Yeap thats not a bad starter set, and a decent price as well. Fortunately most Japanese bikes actually require very few tools to take them apart and put them back together, so if you are tight on funds just buy the smaller tool sets as you need them.
Your welcome to swing by the shop and take a look at some of my projects if you like.

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

Thanks Casey and Firestarter...I figured that I had better start with collecting the tools first...then worry about finding the bike....thanks again!

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

Here's a bike in FoCo if anyone is interested. It is a clean bike, nice custom (comfortable seat).

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

Hello again all!
So I have been searching on here and other sites, trying to come up with "the" model bike to start with.
I am a big guy, (6ft 3in 260lbs) and want to be sure that I can keep up with you all on rides. (once I get a bike that is...lol)

So far I am narrowing it down to CB550, CB750 (pre 1978 and if I can even find one) and the GS line of bikes. I like the Yamaha XS's but they seem pretty rare and I wonder about parts availability.

Anyone care to chime in on a good starter build platform for me? I really am leaning to the CB550 as it just has a good look and vibe about it...but I wonder if 50-ish stock hp is going to do the trick. Any mods you all can think of to boos performance on the CB550?

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

Hey all, got the bike runnin' tip-top. Should it be nice this weekend, any one up for meeting up? Maybe a beer or 3, short cruise?

I should be free at least one of the days, maybe sunday?

Sounds good! If I don't go boarding this Sunday, I'd be down for a meet. I pretty sure Donald & Clay will ride.

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

I would love to get in on this but my front brake is still screeching and squealing and giving me fits and now the bastard seems to have developed a minor shimmy in the front end, so am will likely be tearing apart the frontend of the bike (AGAIN!) this weekend.

Where do you guys normally meet up?

We usually meet up at Donalds house (dthree) it's pretty central. Unless you know of a place where we all could meet.

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

I am likely down, just need to make sure the very-pregnant (almost 8 months!) wife can live without me for a few hours.

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

If the weather is decent I'll try to make it for a ride...got my 650 running last weekend and want to ride it a little bit before i decide what to do with it.

Re: COLORADO CREW!!!!!!

I might be able to get off work on Sunday and make it out for a ride.

Rawfish, we spoke last summer about getting together, although my schedule never jived because I work retail (big money on the weekends).

Looking forward to meting all of you this summer. With enough notice I can request some days off to ride/BBQ/beer, etc.

I got my '73 CB500 (orange) running pretty well, I'm currently working on a '75 CB550 super sport (wind jammer) basket case. If anyone has any parts they're selling that might work on this bike, let me know.
