Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course

Ok so since I realized I forgot the coolant tank and it is ugly I picked up som graphite krylon fusion pkastic paint, cleaned up the tank and shot it. Going to go well with the wheels etc i shot in graphite already. Also grabbed aluminum flat stock to make fan mounts and mounts for the rr and othe electrical.

So we went to maine for gas and groceries and I grabbed a 30 pack of pbr on the chance they wouldnt ask about booze. Well it is massive thunder storms right now and they asked about the beer, so I told em I had the beer and the guard looks at me and says "today is your lucky day, system is down and we cant make you pay tax" lol so I got $65 bucks worth of beer for 16.99. Going to be a better weekend than I thought missing MO.

Minor update, been doing body work on my old ass civic so it will pass safety next month but managed to get the rad on, except one broken fastenser, have to borrow a tap now to fix. Got the rad filled with fresh coolant and am now ready to wire in the relay for the fan and finish buttoning up the wiring all neat and tidy like. Made a mount for the RR and last mount I need to make is for the solinode, not sure yet where I will put that. I want to hide it but that will make it harder to mount so we will see. No pics cause I was lazy but if I get some time tonight I will sanp pics of the RR mount etc. Also got the disk torqued back on the front wheel so front end will go on pretty quick as I bled brakes etc before I disassembled the bike.

Front end on. Need to zip tie up some of the wires but on the home stretch now. Pics:

Oh yes and when I went to mount the front wheel I discovered the tire was backwards so had to pull it and flup it. I could have sworn I double checked before I mounted it the first bloody time LOL.

It's ok. Last night, I forgot to re-plug my crankcase and had already gone through about 3 quarts of oil before I realized it was all running into the pan.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course

So after a friggin brake job on the pos nissan 1.5 years out of rear brakes is bull shit stupid. We got some cx work in. The new all LED idiot lights and guage lights arrived so we git bars on and guages mocked to make a nice alloy light fash to hold the lights. Need to pick.up some more vinigar to clean the rust off the front fender. Getting really close to tuning and test ride before final paint.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course

Ok so wiring sucks. I have most of the wiring done. Test fan relay and that works perfect. Jump the temperature switch and click whirrr fan spins nice. Now the.issue is of course the LED signals. I have an electronic flasher but no matter how I hook it up I just get solid signals, no blinking. But I was using my test light to check the horn button and it blinked. LOL so something weird is going on. I do know the control is not original to the bike, different colour wires than the diagram. Not sure if that is part of the issue. Also my headlight wont work so I need to check the bulb, then trace the wires.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course

Hmmm....that is weird. Bad ground somewhere around the flasher relay? I dunno Mike.

I have found before though that sometimes not all electronic relays work on every bike. Have a different relay you could try?

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course

My 400F signals wont flash unless the bike is running.

Ya know, I think my old CL175 was the same way.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course

I had the same issue with electronic flashers and found the only way around it was to get an LED specific flasher. I've got LED's front to back and apparently the current draw isn't high enough to trigger the relay, even in some electronic types.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course

I had a similar issue on my MB5, hate wiring so I just put a regular set of indicators in the rear. Not the best way to fix the issue but just wanted to finish with the wiring. I'll be following to see if you find the correct solution. :)
