Do The Ton Spring Thaw

Doh! Damn choices! If we stick to the third weekend in May I'm already a bit committed to GMR Hooligan Ride that same weekend, I volunteered my truck as their chase vehicle.

I hope I can make it. It'll be a haul for me.

Sorry to threadjack here, but as an alternative for those here in the south east, we put on a pretty darn good cafe show here in Western NC in the spring.
http://www.meltdownvintage.com/

Its a free show with a focus on pre 1980 bikes and all cafe racers. Last year, our first year, we had about 200 bikes in the show and that many more as spectators. There where a handful of DTT Triangle guys there as well as groups from Knoxville, Asheville, Greenville, Raleigh/Durham, Charleston and ATL. We'd love to have you guys come out for the show and enjoy some of the best riding on the east coast. You can also check us out on FB.

Please join, share and invite friends.

Heres the thread I started for last years show. I added some pics of the event.

Guess I need to sart one for this year.

Anyways, sorry to hijack, hope to see y'all soon!

Another shameless threadjack haha!

Hey guys I wanted to mention somethibg else about the meltdown coming up (but didnt see a thread started so im jacking this one)

My wife and I know several DTT guys coming from quite a ways for this event. So we wanted to offer to open our home for camping/crashing/beer drinking/mayhem/childishness that weekend. We have ample room for camping in the back field, nightly bonfires, a huge outdoor bar begging for abuse, a monstrous grill, and a garage for wrenching. Best of all, we are only about 30 minutes from the meltdown. And I know some mountain roads that make for a real hell ride to travel to the show. So any of you hooligans that want a place to crash, come on over!

Shameless thread jacking over :)

Mr. E...put us down for two sir! I was just trying to find a hotel room yesterday. We would much rather camp and set something on fire....

O.K. guys...Need some numbers here. How many of you guys are really considering coming down? I've got two ideas that we are gonna go down and check out. One is a cabin for a small group that sleeps 15 and would allow camping for anyone who decided late. If we have way more (I hope that we do) there is a huge lodge that sleeps 65 people. Apparently the Gorge is a little more popular than I thought and the slots keep filling in really quick. Our goal is to keep the total lodging cost under a $100 per person and kids are free. If you, wife, kids, lover, hired girl are considering, shoot me an email at logan@rustrev.com with details.

I'm definitely considering it, but it'll basically be impossible for me to commit until the last second due to so work bullshit. That said, I'm capable of sleeping in a sewer drain if need be (as proven at Kileys) so if I can make it I'll toss some money I to the pot for everyone and nust roll with the punches.

Going to try to take a look at the off time calendar tomorrow and see what i can do will let ya know what it looks like for us.

Myself and a few others from Cincinnati will come depending on the dates. It's only 2.5 hrs away. I was there over ThanksGiving weekend and stayed in a YURT of all things... fun.

The hiking is awesome and I've always wanted to ride the roads down there and in the Beattyville area. The Red River Gorge is spectacular scenery, climbing, canoeing, hiking, etc. So I'm down with it for sure.

Dates? Don't go too late, if this thing is a spring thaw. We host a Mods & Rockers rally in Cincy on June 1st, so many of will be unavailable as that draws closer. :)

Those cabins down there are spectacular by the way. They look like something you'd see out west. Really nice and great views. HOT TUB!

Here's a photo of the Yurt cabin. Don't have any of the big log cabins.

I'm game for one event or another......I need to look at my vacation time for the year still.

If it comes down to it, count me out Logan. If somehow I can make it to the Thaw, I'll sleep in a hammock in the woods! :)

So what's the confirmed date / place? 10 hours away from me - this is about where we stop for the night driving down to Barber.

The 3rd weekend in May might be good for me as Monday the 20th is a holiday. We'll see but I might be able to squeeze out another day to make it.

I am now 90% sure I can make this and I'm ready to lay down some money to prove it. Get us some more details!

I don't know if I will be riding or trailering, but it doesn't really matter.

Well if it is the 3rd weekend of May, I will do my best to make it, I will be trailering for sure as riding that far in that short of time is just no fun. So I may bring the CX instead of the GL to give it a good testing out. Post up the deets when known and I will try to plan for it.

ahh of course... may is not good for myself and my buddies... we are going to be in FL riding the keys in May

Found a perfect spot, cheap and secluded. 3 nice small cabins all in stones throw of each other with a clearing for camping. They were (keyword here) perfect.....got the agreement details annnnnnnnnnd they do not allow alcohol on premises. So....there goes that since I saw the can collection after Barber this year.

Going to check out another cabin in the next couple of days and we should have a definite date and place this weekend.
