i'm coming down to the end of this bike, and i love your brake light
where might I source one? just considering options for lights that would mount in that same fashion and be DOT approved.

thanks all, very good motivation in here
look forward to my build thread... finishing up and documenting in the next month or so. ready to shake the poser feeling :3

Paid $6 for it at the local auto parts store. I think it was packaged as a trailer light. Its pretty bright and has the license plate light.

Go here www.cb1100f.net and do a search for BST36 or 38 or carb swap. Loads of info available.
Notlob, if you aren't a registered user to CB110F.net you can't gain access to forum posts... and getting registered proved to be a bitch for me. After 3 attemps with no replys to my requests.
I finally said screw it and joined www.CB750C.com for their vast technical knowledge but was put off by a couple of the mods attitudes, Then found a new forum starting up, http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/ Very happy with the quality of members and it is growing leaps and bounds...

But enough about them, lets talk about me! ;D Here is a recent pic of my DOHC project, most here are following my build thread and I really appreciate the attention and assistance! Since the pic I have flipped the gauge mount upside down so it mounts from the bottom to lower the clocks and am much happier with the look. LAtest task is tackling the carbs with a Randakks Master O/H kit.

HD, I've been registered on the CB1100f site for a couple of years. Cant remember having a problem registering at the time but things change.
I give the new site a look as well.

The gauges look far better mounted lower, soon be finished???

Yes, I'm very happy with the look of the new gauge angle. I need to "tweek" the mount a little to bring the speedo / tach in closer to the center idiot light pod, right now they are splayed out since the mount is effectivly upside-down. I'll post a pic soon of the new look.
I hope to get her on the road soon, a few more details to iron out but the list is getting shorter. ;)

luv how your DOCH is turning out. I have some DOCH's as well and am on the CB1100F site, lots of great info and a bit of snarleyness. Some of them have no time for Café's and don't ask about putting Pods on your CV carbs.

That's funny, cause they all hate Pods on Honda CV carbs over on 1100f.net! I am not sure why? My jetted 82 900f runs perfectly with pods.

My buddy tossed pods on his CX500 and is having no problems. I just ordered mine off of vintagecb750.com. Also I see pods on these carbs all the time. I don't see what the big deal is.

I wouldn't concur with that statement, There are many threads on fitting GSXR carbs and pods one 20 pages long. True there are many that advise you don't fit pods to stock carbs as until recently no one has successfully managed to tune them properly. That's good advise given, gained from many years of experience from some knowledgeable guys.
If you are running pods on stock carbs on your 900f and have no flats spots or sluggish pick up off a flat throttle you have been very lucky and found the magic pill and need to share your set up unless you have modified the carbs as per the RSC Kit Manual.

Well this is what I started with over a year ago and below is what she is starting to look like.
I was hoping to do a build thread but right after I started the build I lost all of my earlier tear down pictures to a hacker and now that computer is a paperweight.

What the frame looks like now. That's Lolly Pop Candy Red. ;D

Here are the front and rear wheels.

And an engine cover teaser!

So after posting the pics above I have been moving along and since I can't do a complete build thread I will just add pictures here.

So here are a few of the assembly starting.

Getting the shock and forks mounted.

Now the tires and rims along with the front calipers.

Now the headlight bucket and the front fender.

And working on getting the wiring finished. (WHAT A PAIN IN THE A$$)

Yes, I am well aware of the GSXR CV carb set ups on F bikes, you are correct there is a vast amount of info there on the topic.

Please re-read what I wrote. "they hate pods on HONDA CV carbs..... My jetted 82 900f runs perfectly with pods." Sorry, that I did not specify "stock", but they are "jetted" OE 900F carbs with NO flat spots, hesitation, sluggishness etc.... zero issues. I guess I got lucky then with my set-up. It's been that way for over a decade. This is not to suggest that you can just throw a set of pods on and ride away, that won't work. But then again I have been tuning carbs on big bore bikes since the middle 80's.

In my experience on 1100F.net there is a lot of valuable information & a lot of smart experienced guys. But, how to tune OE Honda CV carbs with pods successfully is more limited than the GSXR set up, for example.

I concur with your statement that "many advise don't fit pods on stock carbs" on 1100f.net. I never suggested to do so, only stated that jetted properly you can.

Notlob and I been talking about this mod. He knows more of the history as it is PDF of a long ago document. Maybe we should share that here, unless it already is somewhere and I missed it.

By stock I meant OE carbs but jetted obviously. I'd be interested in the specs of your set up for future reference. The build I'm doing now I'm putting flatslide carbs on.

Just picked up 2 79 750F's.

Bike #1- titled frame, forks, Tank, wheels and good running motor that the Po decided to try to part out. fortuantely he did not get very far.

Brought Bike #2 Home this evening. Lost of stuff missing but all the parts I need to get the Engine complete, Carbs, 2 Air boxes etc. i will be selling off stuff I don't need eventually.

I noticed that as well. I have a complete good motor so I am not worried about it though.

I can't figure out why guys leave these things sit outside. It was sitting right beside a huge building that the motorcycle would have gotten lost in. He could have gotten more $$ out of it if he hadn't IMHO.

So I just went out and looked at the 3 I have. This one, 1980F, and the cover on my 82 Nighthawk are both steel. The one on my 79F engine is aluminum.

Nice score rocketrich!!!
One thing I noticed is how rusted the starter cover is... odd... mines aluminum ???

img0272to.jpg

I have an alu one I got in a box of parts, all the other ones I've seen are pressed steel. I've never been able to find out which bikes had the alu cover or if it was an aftermarket part.

rocket, I also noticed a badly rusted set of cams

img0274ng.jpg

I recommend throwing those in the landfill and picking up a set of 900's for a nice little performance boost.
