WOW.. whats the hold up?
Did you get the Clubman bars on OK?

they've had the bike ever since i got them...i havent even gotten the chance to put them on yet. they said they got the tires in but there are a couple bikes ahead of me...apparently people like their business. i only went there b/c my buddy works there and i figured i'd help him out...kinda sorry i did that now.

Man thats a long wait to have tires monunted and balanced. I took mine into the shop I deal with in Lindsay and had them back the next day. However I just took the wheels in, not the whole bike.

Same here... but it was early February too.

Yeah the problem was def that they have to get your bike on stands or a lift...

Next time you should just bring in the wheels. They'll rip off the old ones and throw on the new ones in a few hours (most likely next day).

But Yeah, I'd be pissed. If they say it's gonna be another 3 days then go get the bike, pay for the tires, bring the bike home and rip off the old wheels - bring it all in to another shop and pay the 35-40 bucks for the install / balance.

I brought mine to the Yamaha dealership and it was 40 bucks + 1 night without my bike.

I made an appointment at Riders Choice when I got my Pirelli Sport Demons put on my 550F. I rode the bike there, and rode it home an hour or so later. And they forgot to charge me the install fee - just paid for tires :D

yep always have an appointment, so if you show up and they say it be three days, you go okay where next closest shop? your work gets done so fast at that point.

well i didnt want to burn any bridges...like i said, my buddy works there so i was just helping him out with commission. he said it might be a few days but i never expected 10 days at this point.

Don't feel bad, my bike has been in the shop for almost a month now they barely started working on it, they are supposed to modify the gas tank and make a solo seat. See link for picture. Also they are supposed to move the battery to go under the seat hump and reroute the exhaust. I wanted for my bike to ready by this week so that I can attend the TON UP Chicago event this coming weekend. I am going to have to drive by in my car.

your bike is one of my favorite rides on here.

It would have been quicker to change them yourself. In the 50s at the ISDT one of the special tests was you had to stop, remove the wheels and take the tires and tubes off, refit them and ride away. The time taken was part of your overall score. Obviously the less time taken the better. Johnny Brittian of the British team pulled up, wheels out, tires and tubes off, back on and gone in four minutes and fifty two seconds.

i called them this afternoon (day 12) and asked what the progress on the bike was...they still hadn't started working on it. so i had to do it, i went in there after 2 weeks of not having my bike (my ONLY mode of transportation) and took it back. i told them i found a place that could do it for cheaper and faster and they handed me my keys. i was not a dick about it but i was assertive and forth right. now i can only hope my buddy doesn't get upset about it.

I wouldn't worry about it if he's your buddy.

Chances are they would ahve put em on backwards or something too - the way you were treated.
Kudos on gettin the thing out of their hands... take off the wheels and bring em somewhere dude... I'd hate for you to get f'd over again.

You did the right thing... either your friend has NO pull at his job or he just didn't care too much... neither does you a damn bit of good.

i already called another shop downtown. heres the price comparison

Friends Shop - Tires: 259.00 both for some off brand
- Service per wheel: 45.00
- hourly rate: 75.00
- Grand Total: 424.00

Other Shop - Tires: 180.00 both for dunlop
- Service per wheel: 30.00
- hourly rate: none
- Grand Total: 240.00

and they promise work done in 2 days for tire changes. it would be less but they have to order the tires. in defense of the shop that my friend works at, they didn't make me buy the tires after they'd already paid to have them shipped in.

yes that was very nice of them not to break the law and charge you for services not rendered, and they can say in your defence that you did not contact provincial biz lisencing board, cause under new legistration passed aug 2005 they can face 50 thousand dollar fine for not filling the service promised to you within 7 days.

Yeah that price is reasonable for sure...
But your friend's shop ... wow... they had you going for a ride.
Always helps to shop around, no matter who works there.

I would think they were just trying to save face by saying they "wouldn't make you pay for the tires" and you're better off with the dunlops. I just paid over $200 for my Dunlop GT501's so that's a pretty good price.

Again, Congrats on pulling outa there before it was too late.

BTW, I checked at a Harley dealership and it was much much cheaper than your friend's shop. Actually it was about the same as the new price you were quoted, but with bridgestones.
...and THAT's sayin something.

i also was not aware that shops are lawfully held to finish a work order after 7 days...good to hear
