no kidding!

i also was not aware that shops are lawfully held to finish a work order after 7 days...good to hear
sorry didnt relize you where in states that law is ontario canada

this is BS, man. the 2nd shop i took it to has had it for almost 2 weeks too. WTH! it was only in for tires, front brakes, throttle return cable, and new kill switch. they didnt touch it for a week and now they're saying the guy looked at it and wants me to call him tomorrow morning so he can "talk to me about it". ugh

might this have something to do with the fact that i think i blew a fuse when my kill switch shorted out on my handlebars? i saw smoke come from the wire but i figured the fuse would've kept the problem contained. i hope he doesnt have to rewire my bike...thoughts?

Hey Ryan,

The fuse should have containted the problem as long as it was the right size/ampage fuse...
Sometimes, people keep popping a fuse so just put in a larger ampage fuse, w/o looking for the cause of the short which eventually ruin the wiring of the bike...

Im curious to hear what the guy has to say...

but 2 weeks later???!!!... shit!!!...

thanks noel, that makes me feel better. The orginal owner took great care of this bike and im sure he used the right size fuse. I'll definetly keep you updated on how things go.I'm sure he doesnt have bad news...and I'm sure its something like just wanting to get my approval to do something.

so i was hanging out last night with some good friends of my fiance....one of which rides a CB550. He proceeded to tell me that apparently the owner of the shop i have my bike at now is sketchy and that he "often" calls customers who have their CB500's and CB550's in his shop and tells them that the bike is fucked, thats its a parts bike, that its not worth fixing, and that he'll buy it from them for a couple hundred bucks. apparently he runs a bit of a chop shop where he'll buy your "fucked up" bike from you, fix it then turn it over for a load of money. i thought this was wierd since all i ever heard about this shop were good things...but thats what my fiance's friend said at first too. this scared me because one of the service guys told me yesterday that the owner wanted me to call him this morning. i'll keep you guys updated on this.

*i would appreciate that NO ONE mention the name of the shop in this thread or refer to this thread on any other forums. I do not want there to be anyway he can search his shop name and come up with this thread until everything has been resolved*

ok so i called the guy. he said it would be 500 bucks to wire up my handlebars and wanted to know if i was ready to spend that kind of money. i told him to go ahead and do everything else and just leave the wiring to me.

so now i need help wiring the handlebars. i put some clubmans on there and i needed a new kill switch assembly so any help would be great.

Hey Ryan,

Do you have a new right hand control?
Personally I wouldn't bother wiring it throught the bars, Just wire the electricals outside the bars and zip time them to the bars.
It will just plug one way into the main wiring harness then just hook up the throttle cables... It should be a 5 min job.

Post some pics when you have a chance so we can see with the issue is..

damn you're a patient guy, I'd get my bike back.

believe me, everytime my phone rings, i jump from being so anxious about the call. i get pissed when its my dad calling for the 3rd time in 1 day to see if i've heard anything about my bike.

when the guy told me on the first day that i'd have it back in 3 days, i was stoked. i was all ready to give him a carb lamp as a "tip/thank you" but for God's sake there's no way now...he'll be lucky to get business from me again

no clue. i would get it back but i need it running and i wasnt sure what i did to make it not run. it should be sometime soon now. im calling them today to see whats up. i hate calling them because the guy is always such a dick on the phone...like he's God's gift to motorcycle mechanics and he's doing everyone a favor by being in business.

ok soooo i called him again today and apparently he's still plugging the idea that the wiring will take 12 hours...so i told him to do the tires and i'll take the bike back and do the wiring myself. he keeps telling me the wiring is butchered...whatever

i figured wiring cant be but so hard...im sure i can do it myself with a volt meter and some shrink wrap.
