Now I've got to go to the hardware store and by all the correct hardware and materials to make linkages out of (no the flattened end conduit is not staying). Also got to pick up a belt for the belt sander, so I can clean up the shifter and brackets.
Looking good, i'm sure your going to do this but I'd bang that pipe flatter at the bolts and round it out instead of a 90 degree cut so you don't get your self caught up on the edges, but great work on the rearsets.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

Wow, so I've been MIA. Just got a new stash of parts in, and was planning on getting back to work on the bike this week, but got rearended on my way to work! My neck and back are all jacked up. I'm loaded up on muscle relaxers and pain killers, so maybe I get something done anyways this weekend.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

FINALLY, I've got brakes. I've been super cheap looking for the front drum brake linkages, finally got a whole assembly on ebay for $20 including shipping. Got everything on and adjusted tonight.

So its not that pretty, but its 'almost' functional. Once everything is on I'll be refining everything. Been working on paint schemes and themes, but I'm not wasting money till I can ride it down the road.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

Oh, Can anyone help me with picking out front and rear sprockets? THe bike came without a front sprocket so I dont even know the stock number of teeth. THe back is worn too, so I'll be replacing both. I'm gonna be more focused on round town drivability and not top-end (in fact I dont mind sacrificing a lil top end for a little more grunt around town). Let me know what ratios u other cb350 guys are running.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

Sorry to hear about you getting rear-ended man. Good to see you are back at work on the bike.

Check out www.sprocketspecialists.com for the original sprocket sizes. As far as the gearing goes - take the rear tooth count and divide it by the front tooth count to get the ratio. I personally can't recommend a good ratio for you though!

Re: Honda CL350 Build

Thanks BigR. They had all the stats I needed. As far as my accident goes, I should find out if my car is totaled or not today...

Re: Honda CL350 Build

Alright, so got distracted with work and having to find a car to replace my totaled civic. I know its not a bike, but I ended up with a 2003 Civic Si with only 21000 miles. I just ordered a bunch of new parts for the bike so should have a good update in a week. I'm also about to redo my seat, the old one just looked to long so I started making a cardboard template, tomorrow I'll start shaping th sheetmetal.
Pics of the new car and the seat template:

I got them from http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/. They were $21, $28 with shipping. Originally each side was about 4 inches longer, so i cut them down. Its a pain in the arse to get the wires through them, so fill them up with baby powder or vasaline before running them through, and take ur time or you end up with broken wires!

Clubman Handlebar
Color - Chrome, Size - Clubman
SKU# 42267

Other online stores I have bought stuff from:
Carbs - http://www.procycle.us/
Points, Condensor, etc. - http://www.sportingforless.com
Gaskets, Exhaust parts, etc - www.bikebandit.com
I have also ordered from www.oldbikebarn.com but they are usually more expensive than some other sources. Check out www.z1enterprises.com too.

If you haven't got a manual yet PM me, before you buy one.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

??? So I ordered a clutch cable and handle. I got the cable on, but it looks really long. Where is thing supposed to be routed? ??? Feels like I am finally on the home stretch of getting this thing running up and down the street.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

Spent some time working on the bike ;D Got the clutch cable on and clutch adjusted, worked on the brakes some more, chain tighted and wheel lined up. Thought I would take her for a short spin around the neighborhood, rode down my steep freaking driveway, rode about 30 feet down the street, and pop pop dead. I thought my wife was gonna pee herself laughing at me pushing the bike back up the driveway. I'm taking the carbs off tonight and jetting them so this won't happen again. BUT hey thats 30 feet more than I have ever rode her before.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

Congrats man! Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like you might need more than re-jetting. What exactly happened when it died and failed to start again?

Re: Honda CL350 Build

Nahh i bought mikunis jetted for a 2 stroke for it. The reason it wouldnt restart is that the brake pedal is in the way of the kick start, and i have to unhook the rear brake to kick it off. Ive got to bend it! Ive bought a bunch of jets, so hopefully ill get it right pretty soon. Compression is low on one of the cylinders, so I think gonna order an overbore kit from boretech. Thanks for the encouragement, im so ready to get this thing running right so I can tear it all down again and work on the asthetics.

Re: Honda CL350 Build - Help Needed!!! Tuning the Carbs

I rejetted the Mikuni's tonight and for the first time the bike started right up without having the chokes on. I can throttle up and down without sputter or backfiring. The problem is that the bike is idling way too fast. Should I keep changing jets or mess with the idle first? I'm a noob if I haven't given it away yet.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

The idle is always adjustable and there man. You have to pay for jets. I would adjust the idle and see what happens from there.

Re: Honda CL350 Build

+1. The idle screws should be really easy to adjust. But also check that the throttle cable isn't binding and adjusted properly.

When you say idling high, you mean a little faster than it should be, right? Like, not idling at 4 grand?
