Introduce yrself, bikes, projects, whatever.

good luck on the L's, it took me a couple of go's to get mine (waaaay back in '81) and it was a whole shitload easier then, you just answered a few questions, paid yer money and walked out and got on a bike, even if you failed you just walked back to the front counter and they'd give you another test sheet and you kept going round until you passed, ah the good old days of pre-computerised RTA.

i ended up having 3 (bike) learner permits, first one expired after extension, second one i lost for redlighting through an intersection whilst cutting off a cop car (oops) and finally got my P's on the last dayof the third one, went to the pub to celebrate ( no double 0's in those days) and t-boned a car on the way home.......

like i said, ah the good old days

yeah my mate got his licence and said if you didnt pass part of the ride test you went to the back of the line and just did it again

mine was way before riding tests (for L's anyway) and for P's there wasn't any of that "off road" nonsense....my sister was just outside them things being brought in so i took my bike (alright it was a Vespa) to the testing station so she could do the carpark bit of the test (she'd already been riding for months without a licence) and i was silly enough to fall off right in front of the testing dude as he walked out into the carpark, he said that even thought the test hadn't started he'd have to fail me anyway and was well pissed off when i told him i already had a licence and it was my sister who was going for the test

ive been riding bikes (trail bikes since i want bout 17 im 31 now lol

never thort of getting my licence

how hard can it be ?

some of the twats i see riding scooters with a death wish have got 'em.....not that i wish to tar all scooter riders with the same brush (after all i was one once) but they do seem to display a gay abandon for road (and personal) safety that even i find a bit of a worry, and i have been described as a complete arsehole of a rider on occassions (who'd have thought my mates would get pissed off at me passing them (doing 110kmh) on the Hume Hwy at 250kmh...?)

it was either that or go past standing on the seat.....and we all saw what happened to Indian Larry doing that. poor sod

Hi my turn next, live near Fremantle nr Perth WA, names Rich, always liked making stuff, about 10 years ago I started making my own car and when my job brought me over to Oz on a temp contract I fetched it over with me, it's called "the bruise", anyway to stop the boredom I got myself a basket case kawasaki gpz250, well actually was a rolling frame with 2 knackered engines in crates. well I do like a challenge and it certainly was, so over the last 2 years I've been tinkering and finally finished (well they are never finished) but got it rego'd and on the road so is kind of finished and the upgrades start I guess! Next is a round headlight and digital speedo!
Btw I called the bike "the bruise too"!
Cheers

Rich

Glad to hear you passed your L's Chronic! Might catch you in Ballarat some time? Stay upright mate and watch yourself on the road, should I say others out there? ;)

Hey spotty, the best I have seen in recent times regarding shithouse ridding would have to be when Gwyneth Paltrow, just got her licence,.. pulled out in front of a bus with her Kid on the back???? Very ordinary! Hey lets all get a scooter and try to kill someone? America must have different laws as here you cant have a pillion until you obtain your full ticket! maybe Hollywood has different laws? Any way mate I like your style!

Rogers GT750 said:
Hi, my name is Roger from Brisbane . I am only fairly new to the motorcycle scene but love the look of cafe style bikes. I have started a project with an 82 GT750 Kawasaki. I hope to have it up and running by the end of the year.

Love the tail unit on this bike. Where can I get one for my GT750???

Hey everyone, im a 26 yr old bloke from brisbane. Iv just finished my bike in the past couple of weeks. Was ment to be a simple little project, but we all know how they turn out. Its a '82 Honda FT500. Front end is off a CB900R, wheels and brakes are off CBR250RR tank and seat where custom made, and everything else, well it kinda just fell into place somehow. Thanks looking forward to being a part of DTT Australia.
