JETTING SOLVED! Could this be real?....and WORK?

Thanks for the suggestion Joey. I'm not familiar with that particular cheese ( or many of the others out there).

If you like subtle flavors, try a hard goat cheese. Not at all the taste or texture you might expect.

We had an evening recently where we each had to create a dish and I was given cheese as the subject. It's only a once a year thing so no biggie.

I knew I wanted a blue cheese so i tried a couple at teh local cheese store and then had to work out what to put it on. I tired three or four crackers and none of them worked. So then i started to bake pita bread chips and tried a range of different spices/herbs on them until i found one that really worked with the texture and flavor of the cheese.

Then i matches it to a Spanish stuffed olive that added the right offset to the flavors.

The point of the story is that I know nothing of teh science of food and have to rely on experience (limited) and the empirical approach try and test and repeat until you get the right answer.

There are many ways to get to an answer and life is all about the journey as much as it is about the destination.

Very well said Brother Teazer, I could not agree more...and just for the record toasted pita, cheese, and stuffed olives sound absolutely wonderful!

I was under the impression that the dial-a-jet came in earlier that WOT and that you could 'influence' where it came in by setting it deeper into the carb(closer to the slide) or farther out.
As for why not jetting correctly in the first place, I've never in my life seen a do-all setup that could properly take elevation, temp, velocity (etc) variation into account on the baseline settings. Carbs are a spare compromise at best, even the very best...thus the advent and growth of EFI in bikes and cars. However if you're using carbs, what could it hurt to take advantage of a little external adjustability?
There was a company that made kits to externally adjust the (main?) on VM series Mikunis, though it's been years and years since I've seen anything on that.
Not an authority by any means....

I prefer triple creme brie or good ol'cheddar myself.

Okay. I bought the kit from 6 sigma racing. They needed my intake mods, what exhaust I was running, any internal engine mods. This will be my first go at modifying the jetting on my bike, and the kit is nice for me. For one thing it reccomends different size jets for the inside two and outside two cylinders. This is something I haven't come across in researching which jets to buy. In my mind it was worth the money. It's a one time shot. The info in here fills in the holes in my knowledge for my bike. These guys appear to know their stuff. Plus I got it at 20% off...
So maybe I'm lazy. But I'm impressed with the kit.

Correct. Basically, the longer the proboscis or the lower it sits in the airstream, the sooner it will start to influence things.

My comments about getting it right were a touch glib, but people who can't get jetting right on one day are even less likely to be able to tweak it for changes in atmospheric conditions was my thinking there.

BTW have you tried Cheddar from Cheddar in England? It is soooo good compared to plastic cheese from a factory.

We're all waiting with baited breath to hear what the kit contained and how it works out for your bike.

I have not had "proper" cheddar, though we're blessed with the Tillamook cheese makers here that, while a factory still turn out some good product. I have recently become a fan of my local grocer's cheese counter and have been experimenting a bit.

I'm never glib about cheese.....

Tillamook cheese is the shit. No other cheddar sits in my fridge. I like other cheeses too, but Tillamook sets the bar for me.

air cooled and inner two cyl. run a bit hotter causing them to run a bit leaner so couple steps richer feeding those two cyls. compensate some for that........ some set thier carbs up like that........ some don't.

I'm looking forward for the results that the E-bay jets bring. I've been reading criticisms of the jetting package for years now but never have I found any real reviews of it. Good going

+1 to that. Most ebay carb kits are Keyster brand and the jets and needles are less than stellar. The OTHER jet kits from 6 Sigma (ex motorola by any chance?) are supposedly custom set ups, and we won't know what they are until we see some pics and read the reports of how well they worked.

Then we'll all know.

Good job on getting the kit, and yes jetting middle cylinders richer to compensate for higher running temperatures is something that is done - my Suzuki GSX-1100EF, when it was stock, had 120 mains on cylinders 1 & 4 and then 122.5 on 2 & 3.

On cheese, I also like a good cheddar. The places 'round here seem to do some good ones, with Tasmanian vintage cheddar being very nice indeed. Mersey Vale cheddar with pickeled onoins (thats the name of the product) is out of this world, always a favourite for me.

Now, where are my Jatz and pepper grinder?

Cheers - boingk

Here's the bag and the list. There's also a few pages of stuff I could have found on the interwebs if I weren't too lazy. But it's nice to have it all in one place anyway...
