JUNE 2011 BIKE OF THE MONTH - NOMINATIONS!

dp9 . yep you missed it, it in cafe racer projects or something , gs550 cafe racer featherbed-ish or something along those lines

dp9 thanks all the same but i cant accept it as i did toss my own hat in , as a gag , just to see the the squabbling ! plus i think i like the blue gulf coloured bike , its well finished and has a good line about it ,easy to lose shapes when building, see other peoples projects and you'll find lots of finer details that'll seem odd the longer you look, the gulf one is a great effort and well done

Being pretty new to the site, I was starting to think that BOTM was this packed with jaw-dropping drool-inducing machines every month, but given some of the comments, I can see that this is pretty special.

If a CERTAIN bike is labeled as the shoe-in, it might cause a bunch of people to cast their votes for one that they consider to be the underdog, which is a bit artificial. We will see what happens. I am a member of a few different forums, but some of the others are far easier for me to choose a BOTM because they are all the same (or very similar) models. Not only are these different models, but they are executed in fairly different ways--all attractive to me in their own right. Really tough decision guys. I wouldn't be surprised to see all of these bikes earning the award sometime soon, but for the time being, just consider yourselves part of a mini DTT who's-who collection.

Thank you for the nomination. Had to think about this for a while. Previously, it was stated if a bike was nominated and didn't win, it could be nominated again but would be prudent to wait a month or two. There are some stunning bikes nominated this month. If there is ANY objection what so ever, I will decline with no animosity what so ever. I am in awe by the incredible workmanship on ALL of the other bikes that are up. I will accept unless someone thinks it not to be in good spirit.
Thanks Guys!!
Kev

i wouldnt think it would matter if he owns it still or not. he built it and its bad@$$

There are not a whole lot of rules when it comes to the BOTM nominations. Unfortunately it does get a little ridiculous some times when you see nominations resurface month after month. Not that they aren't worthy of winning but sometimes 3 or more months of being nominated is a little much. Personally it doesn't matter to me, after all this is a community involved website that is all about appreciating each others work. Some people just get a little too competitive i guess.

Anyone who attempts a conversion / modification / restoration is a winner in my book.

Bimmer? What bimmer?

The one on page 4 of this thread... unless you mean he shouldn't be calling it a "bimmer," but rather a "beemer" because it's a bike. I've never understood why people get so worked up about that. You're still creating a nickname for the same three-letter German acronym, so why sweat it?

Hey hey, those last couple of sentences were only IF you were talking about a perceived faux pas with the nickname. I, for one, am glad that they don't apply. Now, how about some nominations in the nominations thread? haha

Indeed there is... The Copper Bavarian

But I don't he's accepted his nomination yet.

Ok, I'm closing off nominations today and will compile the results into a voting thread. So get those last couple in if needed.
