Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid/ Christine: CASE BACK OPEN...

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Agreed. There may be a couple cracks from the peanut gallery though.

I think everybody here can appreciate good work - regardless of where the motor/frame was manufactured.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Will do, then. :D Most of what I am doing other than for my bike is some bolt-on work. This board is certainly the most accepting of "outside the box" thinking! It's what I love about this place. The HD discussion around here is pretty insightful and fun too--for the reason that there aren't really any purists. An even keel, that's what I like!

Ol' kool-aid has certainly gotten more acceptance here, too. Chris has agreed to help me take some glam shots of it, so we will post those up as they happen. Then I heard that there is a zombie uprising, so after photos I will have to go huntin'--get some blood on that aluminum! :)

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Goody... I'll get my flamethrower!!!

Congratulations on the finish, and I can't wait for the glam shots!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

you did a burn out and didnt take a vid?? fine, fine. Ill let that one go since you ddint use the NO2 anyway. maybe a little dash cam vid after you get the juice dialed in??

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Tyler,
I've been off the site for a while. I'm trying to get back in the groove and then I see this build. What a transformation! Bike looks great. I wonder how it's going to look on a summer SUNNY DAY. You're gonna blind some people, lol.
You got a lot of talent there man.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Appreciate the nice words, guys. I'm a picture whore, so you can count on plenty more photos/ footage.

Ha, my zombie hunting superhero name is now "Flash" :D

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Dude post up the HD's, i have posted the last 4 i have built on here... besides i have worked on both of the bikes you got there, may be able to offer some help or hell even find some parts. we stock a bunch of exchange parts for them.
You know me, big HD fan!

Will do, Joe!

Another update, I am thinking about changing the name of the VTR project, from Kool-Aid to 'Christine' as in this Christine:

I think it fits the theme and kind of how I feel about this bike now... What do you guys think?

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid" --soon to be Christine?

I'm talkin' about Christine, man! No shitter ever came between me and Christine...

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid" --soon to be Christine?

I dig it man...

And for real. Share the clunky Americans with us. Joe and I (and a few other scattered souls) cant be the only jerks getting shit on! Haha.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid" --soon to be Christine?

I'd never shit on an HD guy, his gear cost way too much for that.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid" --soon to be Christine?

Yer darn right! ;D

Actually, the main reason for no build thread is that I'm not really doing a full build, just a few tweaks. But I'll post up what I got when I do. Heh, need a name for the Harley build. Mine is affectionately known to the locals around here as "The Brown Streak". No joke, but I'm thinking about lettering that in gold leaf on the back fender! :D

And the wife is really hating the Christine name, especially since the original owner of the VTR died on it after owning it six hours. I'm pressing on for it, though. ;)

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid" --soon to be Christine?

I almost traded my Sportster for a VTR1000 last year. I knew after riding that bike for ten minutes around the parking lot that if I brought that bike home with me, that it would eventually kill me. Ha.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid" --soon to be Christine?

One of the first cars I have ever drooled over and want since the first time I watched that movie as a kid. I will have one one day, in that exact dress. Mater of fact one of movie cars sat inside or outside of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park in CO for quite a while. Used to go drool over it like a friggin' basset hound for a bone. It has been years since I have been to Estes so I donno if she is still there. Incidentally, that hotel was where Stephen king got the idea for another great movie....The Shining.

Christine it is!

Dah-Dah-Dah-Dee-Dee-Dee-Dah-Dah-...This breaking headline in from Montana:

I thew Christine on the scales today to see if all this effort was worth it. The results (with fuel, water, oil, etc):

393 Pounds!!!!!!

Front weight: 195 (49.6%)
Rear weight: 198 (50.4%)

For reference, Kool-Aid's weights are here:

416#
Front: 200 (48.1%)
Rear: 216 (51.9%)

I don't have stock ratios for a VTR, but the dry and wet weights are as follows:

dry: 423#
wet: 448#

This means a reduction in wet weight of about 55#--while increasing hp (via NO), and general badassery!

I'm not sure total capacity of the tank yet, but this was full. I have to drain some fuel down to reseal a petcock, and I will try to remember to measure what comes out to get an idea of actual dry weight.

Not bad distribution, and not bad for all the weight I added back on with the NO and fairing. SO stoked about these results!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid": Christine ain't no fat chick!

Nothing like a hot skinny chick that still looks like she could kick your ass.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid": Christine ain't no fat chick!

Ha, yeah...she's a little strung out on the bottle sometimes, but still cleans up ok. :D

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid": Christine ain't no fat chick!

Met up with Tyler to get some pics of the bike today. We ended up taking all of his bikes for a little joyride, capitalizing on the insanely warm weather. And yes, I rode the Harley. ;D

I'll let Tyler post up the pics he wants to, but I had to upload this vid. He's doing a fly-by at what, 120? It was too fast for my meager abilities to keep up, so apologies for the shitty pan. Cool sounding bike though! It's freakin loud, really loud!

Oh, and that bald eagle we saw? We were duped...

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid": Christine ain't no fat chick!

Damn, son! That sounds as good as it looks! The VTR was a always a strong bike but drop 50 lbs. off of it and I can only imagine how the ride must feel.
