Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid/ Christine: CASE BACK OPEN...

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pic whoring on page 28

Ouch ! Ha ha, I guess I deserve that (a little). You guys just can't appreciate a 'real' bike when you see it... ;D

Seriously, though, I can't help but really like this look:

3/8 radial spokes are frickin' gorgeous....Plus, my boss bought me the set (with tires) for a Christmas bonus (with a lowering kit), so who am I to argue! ;D

Ahem, back to the bike in this build: Got the Caswell liner in tonight without event. Let it cure up, and I can get the tank on for the last time--till next time. Just waiting on the pipe now...

So there--happy? I'm still building fast, off the wall stuff, too! ;D

;D

Did we strike a nerve there?

Hmmmmm, Tyler doesn't like to be teased about his Harley...file that one away for later. ;D

Back on topic, I actually like that look. And you have an awesome boss!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pic whoring on page 28

Ha, fire away...I am confident in my creds, riding one of the few real motorcycles around here...my boss is really great, though ;D

Funny story, the Harley people know that I can't leave my bikes alone. They want me to build up the Harley to make all the noise for which they can be known. It really irks them that even with 2K in motor mods, they just start to achieve the stock horsepower of the VTR--but the motor weighs the same as the whole VTR does! ;D

No, don't paint me with that brush just yet.... ;)

;D

def run a 120 front not the 90 series on the 21 man!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pic whoring on page 28

Thanks, Joe! Yep, got a 120 VeeRubber WWW for the front. Not really a fan of that tire brand, but there isn't much for options in that size, and I had to keep the whites. My lowering kit showed up today, front wheel and tire hopefully by the end of the week. I've been riding, and I hope our unseasonally good weather holds another week or so--and I might be able to ride both bikes!

More to this thread, I got news that my fresh ceramic coated Chromex pipe from Performance Coatings is slotted to be delivered tomorrow!!! That means that ol' Kool-Aid might get a January romp yet!! Getting all these parts is just extending Christmas through January! Fingers crossed...

nice! just watch your ass with that tire bud... my friend went back to black walls because he hated that tire, said it was insane loose in any kind of moisture. just be on point bud... i have had other customers say that it is just like any other tire, but everyones bike is different... just always give a heads up when i find out people are running them. i never have personally. but then again i run cheap tires on everyting but my HD, hahaha. stoked to see the progress man!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe pics...

Wow! That came out looking even better than mine did. Very nice.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe pics...

More pipe pics... asap

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe pics...

+1! to everything! That looks great!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe pics...

As promised, got the pipe installed, and it meets all the expectations I had! The finish is great, and matches the polished aluminum perfectly. The under tail temps from the rear cylinder are way cooler as well, since the pipe is coated inside and out. For refence, it was done by Performance Coatings in Auburn Wa. I shipped the pipe on the 27th, and got it back today, even with New Year's to slow it down. Anyway, on to the pics!

So now, the bike is pretty much finished up. I have to dial in the NO system, and wrangle out a Texalium fender for the front. Not sure the timelines on those two steps, but I fired it up tonight, and did a small tire roaster in the garage! This thing is ready to RUN!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for bearing with me through to the the end of this one, fellas! You all have been great help, inspiration, and guidance throughout! DTT is certainly the best. ;D

Oh, Chris: notice the lockwire on the muffler. I'm making sure to keep this one with me :D

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Hah, good call on he muffler. Looks awesome man! Now lets make some molds!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

bike came out insane man very very well done! BOTM, be the first one juiced!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Very cool man. I'll say thanks for letting us watch you make this thing! haha. So what's the next project.... :-X

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

THanks guys! This thing has turned out in every way I had hoped. It turns out that it is certainly not for everyone, but I guess you can't beat it for its shock value... In the end, I guess I am not building it for anyone else, though. So far i have gotten comments all the way from "that is the most dangerous, mos un-performance disaster I have ever seen" to "this is a classic case of just because you can does not mean you should". Meh, can't win 'me all... ::)

On a brighter note, I took it for a spin today (@ 17 degrees). The earth certainly has less gravitational pull on the bike- it's super light. It's also super loud, which might be a problem at some point. For now I am going to leave it. It ran great, and handles really well. Overall I am quite pleased with the performance result so far. I still need to weigh it, and dial the NO, but it is simply awesome to ride!

In the end, it realizes the picture I had in my head, even if the majority of the world doesn't get it. Tanks for tolerating this build here so far--at least it has been entertaining, eh?

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Ironically, the next projects are a couple Harley's...which I probably won't chronicle here. I'll post up some
After pics of them, though! :D

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid". Pipe porn, and nearly done!

Share the HDs ya bum... Not everyone here is full of hatred for all things Harley!
