My new XS750... 3-1 Yosh header and slip-on.

Swapmeet Louie

Put some metal in yer eye....
So I picked up this super clean XS750 triple the other day for $550. This is going to be my daily rider/commuter this yr. So modifications will be mild. If anybody has info or can give a heads up for a few good places to get after market parts. Such as 3-1 header, etc...

I have already installed some progressive Marzzochi shocks. Which also lowered the rear of the bike 1.5". I slipped the fork tubes through the tree's to level it back out. This wasn't really done for looks, more because I'm pretty fuck'n short. I also installed some 1.5" rise track style bars and some black grips.

Also, yesterday I picked up all the "E" model body work. Mine is a "D" model. I guess my plan is to slowly convert it into a "sport tourer", what ever that is...

Anyway, like I said. I would love to hear from you other xs750 triple owners as I am not familiar with this model @ all.

Thanks for looking.

This is the bike as I got it.

Re: My new XS750...

jeez that is in pretty good freakin shape for a $550 bike. I got my Kz1000 for 650 with crappy paint and surface rust on the chrome and thought that was a steal!

Re: My new XS750...

haha wow, yet another one! Check out www.yamaha-triples.org, great forum with lots of information. Check out a thread titled "so you just bought a triple". Tells you all about common problems with these bikes, as well as things you should do before riding them (checking fluids, torquing things down, etc). I have a build thread going here http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=21399.0 . Its probably more in depth than you plan on doing, but oh well.

Re: My new XS750...

There are way to many xs750 owners here. I don't feel special anymore. What is the plan with it?

Re: My new XS750...

So I developed a major short...? Lame.... Bike just up and quit, total power loss. Main fuse pops instantly, so I'm assuming I have a hot wire grounding out somewhere.

I need to get it straightened out though. As, I have to start riding it to work next week.

Re: My new XS750...

wow, that things' a sweetheart. Nice bike and a nicely styled year. You're going to have fun with this. I love it when you say "mild" custom when we all know it'll be to the frame at some point ;D .

that thing is sweet louie! i cant believe how clean it is...

Re: My new XS750...

Thanks fellas! Well, I should be back on the road any time now. I traced ther short to the ignition switch/key, ha ha... Lame! But, being that I have an xs360, 2-xs400's and a 650 in the shop. I was able to piece one together and still keep the key and tumbler that came with the bike. Just need to put it back together! oh, ya!

Vroooom!

Re: My new XS750...

Well I got myno power problem fixed. But I think I found the real problem something wrong with the stator. Stater cover has sparks dancing on the out side of the cover, ha ha. Never seen this before....? But 2 wire (brown and green) that got to the reg/rec are getting real hot too.

Re: My new XS750...

(brown and green) These are from the field coil i believe, possibly shorting out around the retaining clip. These wires are very close to the exhaust pipe and sometimes suffer for that.
