ill do this stretch test, I forgot the cover should be pulled tight and all of that... I definitely want the seats to be separate and noticeable height difference
 
If anyone hasn't done this before

Buy tire irons
Change tire before painting
Start on the disc side so you can tuck the tire irons under it
Thick fuel hose isn't a good rim saver
Use some lube on the tire

I'm stuck at half way on because I can't lune this thing up in my current work shop I gotta bring it to my dirty shop tomorrow and finish

If you get about 6 big zip ties and wrap them around the tire evenly so the beads touch each other then it's really easy to put the new tire on.
 
Block the disk side on some wood so you don't warp it. take small bites and work your way around, hard to type it out but there is a feel and once you get it it becomes easy. Also the wheel has a center deep grove, that is where you need the beads of the tire to be in so you can lever the opposite side over the lip, if not the tire won't go over without excess force.
 
thanks guys I will use all this once I get home today the rear will be easier because I dotn have to be as careful....well that's what im thinking anyway... ::)
 
Rear is usually easier because the wheel is wider and you can get the tire beads in the center groove. I am hoping to swap my tire on tonight, need to get a new valve stem though first. The first side of the tire always goes on without spoons, then the second side, get it squished together and pulled into the center channel and start working it onto the wheel using the 3 irons a few inches apart,
 
the main thing to remember is any part of the bead already on the wheel needs to be as fully in the dropcenter as possible for the rest of it to go on
you cant stretch the bead ,when levering the bead , the remainder already on, should be freely and actively sucking tight into the drop center
having the tire lubed and warmed up helps a ton,and when levering up the tire iron going past 90 is usually when a pinched tube happens if a tube is being used
if using a tube presure up the tire 20-lbs or so then pull the valve core let it settle and blow it up again ,all this to help take any wrinkle twists out of the tube
 
Em irons for truck tars mang? You need a 30 gallon drum with garden hose zippy'd on the top rim... tire change station/trash can :eek:

I went to HF expecting to get the 12" ones and this is all they had...I figured they are like hammers bigger=better! that's a great idea for my next shop!
 
I just use Windex to lube the rim and tire, big pieces of plastic laundry soap bottles to protect the rim and as written above, make sure the bead opposite the last part of the tire to be leveraged in goes into the centre of the rim when you leverage it to give you slack at the last part. I used to have a terrible time but now I find changing tires a snap.
 
i used a tire place a few weeks back that had reasonable prices im going to call them and see if they do bike tires...if not ill try again today

i want to do it my self but im coming up on my dead line to get this thing up and running
 
Got a tube not giving up yet!

Gauge mount fixed and painted I had to weld new screws where the old ones were, they both snapped off

Gauges gettin painted I think I have to grind the chrome off?

Put front brake caliper on and connected everything

I got the tire on finally only to fill it and hear air coming out! Package arrived though!!

Patching and trying again tomorrow...


Once I get the tires on I can actually take it out of the basement and ride it to set up the carb

Then I can get the gauges headlight and tail light going

We don't have inspections!

Sewing machine looks lagit, and by the tread spools its what you need, now you will have to learn to sew... none that ive seen have a USB like a 3-D printer

I am having Stator issues as well...where did you send it off to? I need to get someone to rewind mine.

Custom rewinds in the US, did you test it already the procedure is in the manual... The dude has quick turnarounds and did a great job!!
