Nixon tries to fly

Glad that you weren't hurt worse Flug. Bikes can be fixed or replaced, friends not so much. :(

Good news on the full face, but you know that it has reached it's "expiration date" right? ;)

Do you think that you broke the C-bone when you first went down, or when you hit the big-assed rock?

Really sorry to hear this my friend. Glad you are still with us. Those pics are scary.
Get well soon!!!

Holy shit Mike, Glad you are still around to tell the story. I hope you heal up quick. Let us know if we can do anything for you.

Mike

As others have said, sir, glad you are here to type this. And again, let you DTT Brethren know if you need anything, and we'll get it to you.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. I'm doing alright. The painkillers are helping. I'm back at work today. I am a contract engineer, so I get paid by the hour and I don't get sick time. Unless I can't sit up and type, I'm at work.

I will post some pics of the damage to Nixon as soon as I can go pick her up. When I figure out what I am going to do with her, I will let you know.

Damn Mike, that really sucks! Glad things weren't worse and you're pretty much OK. Hopefully Nixon will live again. Keep us posted on your progress. Hope to see you at the GTG.

Damn man! Sorry to hear about that but glad your injuries aren't any worse. Make sure that ankle is healing well before you use it much. I sprained mine pretty bad when I was in the service, never really let it heal and now it still gives me some trouble.

Dang Mike! Glad to hear/see that you are ok! I got a text from Justin today about this. I haven't been on the boards for a few days. Godspeed on a quick an painless recovery and I don't have any 450 parts but would be glad to see what I can find for you. Hope to see you and Nixon again at Kiley's!

Wow, those pics are crazy-thats quite a slope! Glad you are up and about and wish you and Nixon all the best!

+2 :)

I will probably be at Barber, but without a bike. Who knows, I may be there shopping for bike parts.

I picked up the bike today. It looks pretty bad. Here is what I know is bad:

Tank, seat, gauges, mirror, headlight and ear, front rim and fender, rearsets.

I won't know about the forks and swinger until I get the off and checked, but I don't see anything obvious. The engine has a couple scratches but looks ok. I think the exhaust actually survived bubba dragging it up the hill and onto his truck, but I won't know until I can get all the dirt out. Lastly, the frame. I don't know. I noticed one big problem but don't know if it is repairable. It look like it hit a rock just under the clutch cover (see the last pic). If that can be cut out and repaired, it may be ok, but again I won't really know until I can get it apart and checked.

I have some parts you are welcome to Mike. I have a frame. I also have a front wheel (disk, 19") that you're welcome to as well. Lots of stock parts, etc. Whatever comes up, ask me and it may be something I have. I bought a 450 for the motor and it's just sitting there waiting to be hacked. The frame isn't titled, but I know a guy that can make it so for $80. So just say the word.

Man, I just got onto this thread. Sorry I didn't know earlier. Glad you're in as good shape and spirit as you seem to be. Just one question - why didn't you just straighten out and Knievel over all those rocks? :D

Bit faster off that edge and you would have landed on the rocks vs sliding over them which would have been a lot worse. +1 on full face helmets boys (I seem to remember dodging a flying open face helmet in Alabama one year ;))

Whatever I can do personally or in my 'official' capacity as DO THE TON to get you and your bike back on the road in time for Barber at the latest just say the word.

Wow Mike, So sorry to read this and see the photos. Glad you are ok, that REALLY is the most important part of this.
Your bike was a very sweet looking bike man and I had the pleasure of seeing it in person and even riding alongside.
I am no stranger to the DTT hospitality during times as these. I experienced all of you guy's help after my wreck on my way to Barber's last year. Crap I was just telling someone about it this afternoon and how we are like a brotherhood willing to help out and reach out when someone is hurt or in need. Not that I can say or guarantee that of everyone on here, but those I know and stay in touch with know what I am talking about. Anything you need Mike, just say the word.

Eddie

Damn, you and your bike look like a mashed up bag of assholes.. I hope you get better soon, and look foreward to hearing your battle stories at the g2g..

Haha, thats funny you say that. Where I went off is in the middle of a switchback. The road curves back around, so if it were flat and I went off, just going straight would have put me back on the road. When the rescue team was strapping me down to the backboard, one of them asked why I didn't just gun it and jump across. I told him, " I may be evil but I'm no Kneivel". They laughed and said they could rule out head trauma.
