I bought a cheapie from Harbor Frieght a couple of years ago and was really apprehensive about whacking the end of it with a small sledge. That tool is awesome and indispensable!

i have had both. craftsman is a world above the harbor freight one. it actually works well.

gave my HF one away to a fellow member. a crappy one is better than none.

got a little modern lighting in for the buell today. one like this will also be used on my cb900. in case you are wondering, it still has the protective plastic on the lens, i'm going make the connectors better then button it all up.

Kinda pricey, aren't they? I constantly have to fight the urge to put accessories on my Buellie as it's not in keeping with the theme and the fact that it's a salvage build-up. I really wanted a smoked lens integrated tail light, too!

this one only set me back 80 bucks, found on ebay. I'm trying to minimize the stuff hanging off the bike as it looks much cleaner. Also being an electrical lighting designer for buildings, I kinda get off on having high tech lighting shit on my bike..lol. The headlight will be hid soon, and i'm thinking of doing up my own set of turn signals for the front.

btw, nice to know of a fellow Buell owner up here..i'm fond of the Firebolts too

I'm quite fond of Buells. Hell, I've had two! It pains me that owners are selling them of almost nothing. Buells get no respect! :D

Oooo... HID! I've wanted those systems on my bikes and truck for ever, just never had the disposable cash. Haven't found any turn signals to my liking yet, but I keeps lookin'. Really the only bling on my ebay parts bike (which I think I'll dub the XB984 R or XBR984) is stuff one doesn't really notice from afar.

I splurged on billet clip-ons, CRG levers, race springs, Barnett Performance clutch pack, a Jardine CF exhaust, some ECM Spy software/hardware, and soon, a set of Pirelli Corsa III rubber. Sorry, these aren't really recent purchases. Just stuff I bought over a 2 year period. Ha! Right now, I'm anxiously awaiting my plastics to come back from the painter! Those might be considered new "purchases"?

My new project, currently sitting at Von's house.

That's gonna be sweeeeeeeet.

Also reminds me how lucky I am to live in a place where we don't get rust.

I'll second that...the Avatar is fun!
You should call that bike "The Rusty Trombone".........

C'mon...you know you wanna!

Got this one on the cheap. Gonna make some minor mods. Nut, saddle, end pins, rattlesnake rattle, other stuff.

More tools from the shop. Now we can make things shiny!

I prefer quality tools, but I turn to Harbor Freight for things that aren't going to see a lot of use or are too simple to screw up. Grabbed this 6" buffer and stand on sale for cheap. I'm impressed so far. It runs very smooth and quiet and I think it'll work fine for my purposes. HF's buffing wheels aren't the greatest though, so I got new wheels, compounds, and a dresser from Eastwood.

I have that very model! I love it! It has power, it's quiet, and affordable. I need the pedestal, though. Did your buffer come with the stand?

I bought the stand separate, $29. Glad to hear another positive report on the buffer. I was quite surprised at how smooth and quiet mine runs. I'm very glad I didn't spend $200 on one as I had originally planned. Maybe if I were polishing things every day, but I think this one will do fine for my occasional home use.

I've been using two of that model for almost 6 years and have yet to have a single problem. I agree that you have to shop carefully at HF but there are good items to be had. The fact is, HF has improved in overall quality pretty steadily over the years, there's a lot more good stuff vs. crap there now.....

plus HF warnties 99% of their stuff! just bring it back when it fails... to be honest though... the only thing HF i use now is disposable stuff like sand paper and bags and stuff liek that

ooh ya and my bike tables in the shop are the HF lifts... they are awesome

how much was the whole setup total, including eastwood stuff? I'm really on the fence about getting a setup vs just sending it out. I've got a tip on a guy not all that far away that will do pretty much a whole cb350 engine (all the lower covers, points covers, valve cover, valve tappets, etc.) for $250. It's a pretty incredible deal, and I guess its ok to outsource some of my motorcycle projects so that I can focus on other parts.

I really want one of their bike tables/lifts. I'd also like to buy one of their ginourmous air compressors! So far, the best tools I've bought at HF are a bench grinder, the buffer, and 2 ton engine hoist ($129!!!). The hoist is indispensable, IMHO. I use it all the time to lift bikes that a conventional bike lift can't due to exhaust pipes or oddly shaped oil pans. I don't think I've ever broken anything I bought from HF. Of course, I don't use tools as often as a professional mechanic.

Hooray for Harbor Freight! You Americans are so lucky to have that store. While in Detroit for Thunderdome last weekend, I had a shopping spree at HF. Got a locking wheel chock for hauling bikes in my Element, truing stand, 2 voltmeter gauges, oxy/acetylene welding kit, dial caliper, timing gun and a few other odds and ends. Walked out the door $650 poorer but came home with a pile of goodies.
