Post a pic of your latest purchase

Lost wax would be necessary if you were doing a more complex shape - one where you couldn't just press it into the wet sand and pop it back out, but would instead need to cover it in sand and melt it out to create a void.

Like Maritime said, sandcasting is pretty simple, and it's a lot of fun.

1976 CB550! Free with title. The engine is seized (from sitting). It's also missing quite a few things. If anyone has any of these parts laying around, PM me a price and maybe we can work something out!

Carburetors
Ignition plate (condenser points etc)
Oil filter housing and spring

Other than that, I should be able to tear it down and see if I can make it go again. Might be a ratrod, the wife has been eyeing my cb500 project...so I'll see if this bike will entice her away from it! ha!

Sick find man! For free too. Howd you pull that off?

A guy I know was told if he bought a truck, he had to take the bike away too. So he remembered I enjoy motorcycles quite a bit and dropped it off. Can't complain!

Now I hate you ;D
You can get a brand new points plate complete from K&L supply, local dealer should have catalog.
Should be cheaper than getting used off eBay
1970~75 CB750 carbs can be used and may be easier to find (don't use CB650, too much work involved)
Larger bore, better 'go' ;)

Been looking for a Ducati single for a while . . . love a good swapmeet ;D

Reading old posts, and I may not like you. I had my aim on one of those last year...maybe I need to contact the seller to see if he still has the bike. I could break into my kids piggy bank...

What!? Those will fit!? Killer. I'll start searching, as everyone wants far too much for a corroded nasty set that they aren't sure if the pieces are all there. And thanks for the K&L tip too! I'm on it! I'll make a build thread and shoot you a PM, I have a few questions regarding any work to modify the 750 carbs on that thing then.

Also, don't be too jealous...the motor is completely stuck for now :(
