Not a purchase, but a freebie. Galvanized steel solvent tank that my dad just wanted out of his shop. No pump or anything. The expensive part is yet to be in the tank....the solvent itself. I will probably use kerosene as its affordable and it will take close to 30 gallons to fill just past the curve on the bottom (if my rithmatic is right). Do you guys have any suggestions on a better yet still affordable solvent?
I think kerosene is the way to go. About a $1 per gallon cheaper than diesel and $6 bucks per gallon cheaper then most parts cleaners or mineral spirits.
I have been a bit busy. First ride on the side car was... well lets just say I did not crash!
But I did get a bunch of stuff not that I needed most of it but you never know
I was thinking I needed it fuller than that for some reason. the tank is 18" x 30" with a full radius at the bottom. I was going to fill it 5" past the radius. so I figured the bottom radius is (9x9) x3.1416 x 30= 7643 and change divided by 2 is 3817 cubic inches plus the 30" by 18" rectangle above it is 5" deep = 2700 cubic inches. so 6517 cubic inches total. I cubic inch is .00433 gallon meaning 6517 cubic inches is right around 28 gallons.
I wanted it full enough to be able to submerge an engine case completely under. I will make another grate to was parts on closer to the top. so they will drain after soaked... maybe I am filling it to full though... hmmm
It was in the air. Its a strange feeling to corner and see a big white thing rise beside you with oh ya side car popping in your head. I am reworking the mounting locations then it will be test ride #2. It was ok but it began to creep inwards so I am fixing that. I am also running train horns under the car for shits and giggles. The bike and car weigh next to nothing so its fun as hell. I am finishing my sons low rider wagon this weekend then sidecar rig and back to the CB100/200. On that note I should have some track time sorted for some bike testing and an un-named AMA superbike test rider so I can sort it all out. Should be fun.
And I picked up some better tunage for the shop.

And did this with it...
I got the unit on discount because it had a scratch on the display screen. Didn't bother me because I was hiding it anyway.
Now I have FM stereo (mostly for local football games), Bluetooth connectivity (for my Ipod), and audio inputs for better sound from the (eventual) TV.
All inside a spiffy vintage Philco cabinet ;D
I also plan to put some faux knobs, and a faux dial on the front to clean up the holes
