Post a pic of your latest purchase

Got this in the mail yesterday.

HCI Retro50 and a cheap set of goggles.
A buddy of mine who's a semi-pro photographer is going to get some actions shots of my DS7 and my bro's '06 R1SE.
It'll be a "vintage meets modern" set, so I wanted to go more retro with my look.

This all came in today. 100/90-18 Avon, tube, x-ring chain, and a new sprocket. I've had the wheel with new bearings already installed.

Hopefully have the rear all hooked up by Tuesday.

Cool Indie! I'm sure you know already, but wiring up the turn signal light on that speedo may cause your signals to cross. Just need to wire up a diode.

Let me know what color the back light is on the tach? I think the speedo is blue......

Rich, you're awesome. I didn't know that. I assumed (I know I know) that it would wire up similar to how it was on the stock cluster. I guess I need to pick up a diode then. A radio shack job should do the trick, right?

I might be able to figure it out on my own, but would you mind explaining how to add the diode into the equation?

was finally able to wire in a 220 line in the garage and install the new aircompressor... ya buddy! air tools here i come! Put the 220 line on a plug so i can plug in the welder if needed

Nice tank Joe! I have a 220 line in my garage and don't have anything to hook up to it.

Indie: I've never wired in a diode, so I can't help. I had that cluster in my 175 for a while but used the oil light for the other signal (no stock oil light in 1968).

No worries, Rich. While I'm not the most experienced person with electrics, they just sort of come to me. Not sure why, but that's how it's been as long as I can remember. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out. Thanks for replying anyways hombre.

And Joe, I'd say that garage is f-ing equipped, man! I'm jealous. I so need 220v in my garage.

Meh..I'm not too thrilled about the tach. The light is so uneven on it. I'm not sure what I can do about that, but I'm going to see about putting a blue bulb in there to match the other side, or perhaps put green in both to match the tank/cowl accents. Anyways, inquiring minds wanted to know....

Hey I also gave a gs(750 1997) those clusters fit perfectly gs's? the ratio for the speedometer is the same as the gs one??? and the tach is mechanical or elctronic? ??

Let me know if you can't figure it out. I added diodes to my DS7 to get the single gauge indicator to work with the LED flasher/signals.

I may be wrong, but I actually think I'm okay here. My GS has only one indicator light that flashes for both signals, and the bulb is fed by only two wires. I'll report back if it doesn't go well, but I believe it will wire up fine sans diode.

EDIT: Please correct me if you know I'm wrong. I don't mind.

My 175 only had 1 light as well. But switching all the signals, relay, and the new led in the speedo threw the current off. Basically, it may work or it may not. Try it though. Worse that will happen is you will have to unplug one wire until you are ready to put in a diode.

That's the angle I'll take, Rich. At least I've got a radio shack nearby. I'm hoping that, since the only thing changing is the fact that the idiot light will be LED, I'm hoping I can get away without picking up a new flasher or a diode. My current signals are not LED.

The tachometer is mechanical and for your bike you'll need the 1:4 ratio, just like the one I purchased. The speedometer ratio (on my GS1100) is 2240:60, meaning that at 60mph, the tire spins 2240 revolutions per minute. I cannot say for sure that this will work on your bike. A google search for "GS1100 speedometer ratio" is what eventually pointed me in the right direction. I hope that helps.
