I bought some carbon fiber.

Because.... two days after putting plate and insurance on the BMW I hit a deer.

Yeah, it wasn't my idea of a good time. Great testament to the machine, though. I was going around 50-55mph and the ABS and solid steadiness of the machine kept it up on two wheels w/ just a wobble. I pulled off to the berm, put on the four ways, and walked back to pick up the nose of the fender laying in the middle of the road. No deer, she must have picked herself up and moved on. (I'm hoping that someday some hunter finds a hunk of carbon fiber in her left rear leg!)

I wasn't very happy about it to begin with but then my attitude got really gloomy when I started searching for a replacement. OEM from BMW would have been $800!!!! The search got strange because the R1150R Rockster doesn't have the same wheels, forks, and front fender as the R1150R, it gets those parts from the R1100S & R1100SS Boxer Cup bikes. In a way that's good because those are more plentiful than the three-year-only Rockster. Found this knock-off that fits well, looks good, and seems to be very good quality. All's well that ends well, right? (Damn deer.)

Careful With That Axe Eugene
I hadn't realized that the previous owner replaced the 1976 clutch and flywheel on my airhead with a 1981 set up. It's a lighter flywheel, which is better suited to this Cafe Racer but it means you need a different clutch alignment tool. So this is the second one I had to buy grrr. Looks like it could be winter before I get this girl back on the road.

Thanx, Mike! Yeah, as she ran out my first thought was, "Oh shit, I just bought this thing!" then when it just went wobblw wobble and I was still up and rolling, I thought, "This is one heck of a piece of machinery!" And I won't repeat what I thought when I found out what BMW wants for a replacement fender!

1969 Triumph Trophy 250. First British bike I've owned in many years. Runs great, needs a little love and it is loud as hell.
Replace the emgo shorty with a correct muffler and it'll not be quite as loud. (Stock style mufflers still aren't quiet like a modern muffler.) They sound great. Cool bikes... I just missed out on one nearby that popped up on Facebook Marketplace. I've been wanting to do a Triumph or BSA Single. (Now a triple popped up and Its all I can do to not get it for a winter project.

I started working on a better exhaust system. I may go with one of Fekked scrambler pipes and throw a snuff or not in the end. I want to keep the stripped look but that dang shorty is an ear piercer! I had been looking for a single too. I almost bought a pair of BSA Starfires but the seller dropped off the face of the earth before we could make a deal.

Yeah the high level exhaust on these is great. Your header pipe looks pretty good, the muffler and cage might be all you need.

You can repack the shorty, but it won't help much.
Nearly impossible to repack due to design. I replaced the packing and existing baffle with an old style steel baffle meant for Harley straight pipes and it reduced the noise to a more acceptable level. I'd like to have it a bit quieter for running around my neighborhood.

I'm looking for something a bit shorter than stock. My header is in great shape so a shorter version of the stock muffler would be fine. I'm looking at options!

The earlier Tiger Cub exhaust may be adaptable.... not sure, you'd need the header though since the muffler input is offset. though.

A regular T120C muffler is pretty small and is the classic Peashooter style with a straight 1.5" input pipe and a single hanger bung. Could be made to work maybe with a custom bracket.

That's the direction I'm headed. I liked the look of the T120C muffler!

Though my 01 Silverado has treated me well over the past few years, the single cab doesn't play super well with hauling my son around, who is still in a car seat.

Just picked up this 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z-71 Quad Cab with just a tick over 84k miles on it today. Well kept and pretty clean, sans a few surface scratches.
