it met the sawzall.. had to dissect bike quick, so 2 cuts to free neck/front end, then a couple more to separate rear suspension.

Rich Ard said:Word at this point is that it's a 1920s Indian service hack. If anybody has a line on more info we'd love to know.

VonYinzer said:Good call. Something about it reminds me of a side-car a local guy has on his very early BSA locally. Can't quite put my finger in it though. Maybe the hinges?

Jay at DMC sidecars has an Indian Advertising poster from the early 20's which has a pic of the Indian Delivery sidecar, which he says is identical to ours, right down to the same color. THe curator of a major motorcycle museum also concurred.
The other thing as far as dating the car is what was in it. There were some copper-clad oil cans, stamped with a company that made them in the early part of the century...the last century. Also there was a pair of leather gauntlet gloves with the Name Durhide. Only thing we could find on them was copy of ads from the 20's.
Then there were these rolling around in the box
They are rather unique and matchup perfectly to a set of grips on a 1920 Indian Powerplus WB-1.
So according to some experts it is definitely a factory built Indian delivery sidecar from the 1920's. What's really bizarre to me is that the contents left in the box were also apparently from the 1920's. Kind of like opening a time capsule that someone just parked some 90yrs ago and left it to sit.
