Ronnie, you won't regret those clipons. By far the most adjustable type I've ever used.

Glad to know, thanks E.. From what I looked at, they aren't bad for the price. And there were fixed ones for way more than that, because they were designer I guess. Even eBay sellers wanted crazy amounts for OEMs that aren't adjustable. So it's reassuring to hear you say that man, cool. Now I'm more excited!....5 more weeks on this ship... Come on baby!

My uncle was cleaning out his closet and found his old riding jacket from back in the 70's and gave it to me, now if I can just convince him to give me his old Triumph when he cleans out his garage.

Picked this craigslist beauty up 2 weekends ago. 1974 cb750 with clear title, runs great, just a little rust here and there and sticky brakes. Should have it roadworthy in no time. Already got the king/ queen seat off, putting on a stock length set of forks that came with the bike in the near future.

new addition to the fold... v45 750 engine, and a parts bike. I got the engine for free, and then went out and found the parts bike to match.

I have plans for this bike, but I have to finish my other projects before I can get to this one.

Whats that red junk? Looks like there's fire caulk on the engine intake right next to the carbs.

My latest purchase? A new tattoo. I'll show it off when its not so itchy and peel-y.

The carb boots were cracking so it looks like they smeared some kind of goo on the boots.
So I will have to pull the tank and clean it and get rid of the rust.
Then pull the carbs and boots rebuild the carbs and replace the boots.
Also replace or rebuild the stock petcocks which will not turn off so they just added extra cutoffs.
Some type of new exhaust because what is on there is rusted pretty bad.
Also get rid of that damn ugly ass Saddleman seat, fairing and luggage rack.

1980 Kawasaki 550 LTD for $450.
Running, titled and ready to roll.

If those extended forks are in good shape, let Sonreir know. He's been looking for a set.

Bought some parts to finish cleaning/rebuilding some 29mm smoothbores.
Hopefully this purchase will lead to me next "recently sold" column....lol

I picked up this titled 78 SR 500 last night off of CL for $80. I've been itching to try working on a non-Honda for a few months and this was too good of a deal to pass up. Motor is free and most everything is there (carb and crankcase covers are in a box inside), so I think it was a good deal :)

For eighty bucks I would give a shit if I had to leave my soul in a briefcase with the seller. Nice get.

Ok, here's my latest motorcycle related purchase.

Barn find. Not sure on its age/origin, but it construction features that are consistent with a 1920's Indian hack rig.

Welcome to the world of motorcycles with soul

Thanks. I still enjoy riding my Hondas but I've honestly never really owned or worked on anything else to compare them with. Looking forward to learning what the Yamaha Corporation has to offer besides shitty pianos.

Damn you! You now have me beat for cheapest sr500 lol

Yeah, but last I checked yours actually runs. Mine has apparently been sitting for 15 years so I'm afraid to try and start it without going through everything.

Start reading on the xt500 and the tt500 the sr shares the same power plant.
the main difference in building a yamaha is aftermarket parts price. Honda choked the market with ez to own commuter bikes. the shear number of hondas out there means ez to find ez to afford and alot of fancy parts cheap.
Yamaha kaw and suzuki were built in smaller number and are more collectable. the after market in turn is harder to find and more expensive.
your sr is lucky becouse the fact that the tt and xt are very popular with the race crowd. so the go fast stuff is time tested and out there but is cost more. good luck there has been alot of 500 singles built on dtt over the years. so from mild to wild your covered for info. there is also a few sites devoted to that motor.
