Did you powder coat or anodize those allen bolts and the other red stuff? That looks great man!
Thanks man! The cam tensioner and starter thru bolts are rattle can (thanks to your Rattle Can Bling post) ;D
All the other allen heads are from Pro-Bolt (red and black anodized aluminum). I matched my paint color to them, I will be using that same color for the tank, insides of the hubs and anthing else that needs some red paint.

Picked up the frame yesterday!!! I was going to bring it right to powder but have decided to do a partial "dry build" first. Mainly because after reading tons of build logs, I think I may have some issues with the rear tire hitting the new loop. :-\ I plan on going with the lowest profile tires I can find and maybe some longer shocks to solve the possible issues. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also ordered front brake shoes, fork seals, and bearings from DCC this morning so i can get rolling on the front end.

I did the same setup for my cb450 (rear hoop) but welded the plate on the top of the hoop which gave me a little more clearance for my tire. It hits every once and a while but with some shocks the correct length and with rubber bump stops on the shafts you won't have any problems. I'm about 230# and like I said the tire only hits every once and a while with big bumps. Build looking good, keep up the work.

My build (http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=8776.0) still not finished.

I didn't know DCC had the front brake shoes, I thought they only had the back. I will have to look into that.

That engine looks great. Lots of time spent on that and it shows.

As for the rear hoop, yes, I would definitely do a dry fit and make sure you have the clearance you want. I'm not sure of the stance your going for, but with my stock shocks, my tire would have totally hit that. I'm putting shorty shocks on mine to lower the bike and my tire would be hitting that without any weight on the bike. I'm working out the clearances on my tail end now.

Got the hubs polished up last weekend and have been spending my lunch and smoke breaks at work this week painting odds and end. Trying to focus on getting everything done on the wheels so I can get them laced up this weekend! Hopefully i will get some tires ordered next week, I want to go with the widest, lowest profile rear that will fit. I found a 130/70 that measures 5" wide that will fit in my stock swingarm, but not sure if the chain will rub? If so can i put spacers behind the spockets to move them out a bit?
Thanks, Mike

Got my wheels laced up last night. A little overwhealming at first, but once i got everything layed out and organized it went preatty well. I got them pretty well trued up, once I get tires on them I will bring them to a shop to get them fine tuned and balanced.

WOW  ! those bolts look so cool, I have to do this now. What did you end up spending on your anodized bolts? And did you have to send them a specific order or was there a kit you picked up?
Thanks, keep up the good work.

Thanks guys! They did not have a ready made kit for the 450 :( so I made a list, and ordered them individually, you can order in packs of 10 and 5 so that makes it a little easier. I can post my list if you want me to(i just need to find it). they didn't have some of the exact lengths, so i ordered longer ones and cut them down with a Dremel tool. Overall cost was around $110 bucks shipped(free shipping for orders over $100)
I plan on getting my cable adjusters, stem nut and few other odds and ends from them also. Finish is good and i got them in about a week so i am 100% satisfied!!!

Yeah a list would be cool. Is the aluminum to soft or is it okay to use for side covers and the like?
Thanks again for the info.

JR

I will try and find that list and get it posted ASAP. According to my research and the guys at Pro-Bolt, aluminum is OK for side covers and cosmetic stuff. DO NOT use on anything structural though, i.e. engine mounts. I am by no means an expert, so maybe someone else can chime in?

I just want to get some for the polished covers, would be a great red accent for the engine. Any news on the list?
Cheers.

Bike looks great. Was that the first time lacing a wheel, was it a big deal or just more of a pain in the ass job. did you stay with stock rims or change size. I purchased a 74 cl450 for the burning river build off here in Cleveland. The rules state you cannot out source any work so I am trying to decide if I want to take wheels apart or do a whole lot of masking.
