Range Rover Runs Down Bikers in N.Y.

I remain open to the possibility that there's another, earlier car/bike interaction that we're not privy to; if that's not the case, though, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing. Lucky for the guys on bikes that nobody in the car was carrying.

You say that as if you think none of the bikers were carrying. For sure the one who broke out the drivers window would have been a likely candid to be shot.

This is just a mess. I think anybody in the Rangers position, probably would have done the same thing, and anybody riding with the pack, probably would have done the same.
1. You have your family out for a ride, you nick a bike and they start destroying your vehicle while your family is inside. You make a brake for it before your family is hurt, not caring how you get out, even if it's driving over people. Your family comes first.

2. You're riding with your buds... In your rear view you see a rukus and we all know the car is always at fault and you go to the defense of your buds.....

Now, as adults, the bikes wouldn't have been stunting, the Ranger would have given some room and everything is peachy. Result is you have several people having to go to the hospital, several bikers arrested and a black eye for the biker community. Somebody will read this story and next time a guy rev's their engine next to them, they will shit their pants and ride over several people.......

There was a previous interaction. One of the guys in the group cut off the Range Rover and he clipped his back wheel. The guy in the Range Rover pulled off to the side of the road to try and sort out what had just happened when the group converged and surrounded him. He then went in to "flight mode" and took off, running over several other bikes in the process. I don't blame him. If I was in an accident and 30+ bikes surrounded me screaming obscenities and throwing shit at my vehicle with my wife and infant child in the back, I would have panicked and did whatever I could to get away too. It's simple Mob Mentality. The riders reacted in an irrational way due to numbers...

It's all over the news and they are treating it as a simple biker mob gone mad story. All they show are the last few seconds with the bikers acting like thugs and the news anchor draws the obvious conclusion that it's all the bikers' fault. It seems that they were mainly to blame for the outcome, but a bigger fallout is that the rest of us get blamed or picked on or discriminated against and legislated and policed out of our fun.

Emotions get out of hand very quickly and it's unfortunate that this group not only could not control their emotions at the time but then chose to share it with the world. Thanks for nothing.

The story says the RR pulled over to the side after "bumping" the bike. If you look at the video you can see the bike and the RR both stopped in the middle of their lane and never moved from that spot. My daughter and I argued, she saying the RR didn't give a safe distance between he and the biker. I say the biker clearly put himself in an unsafe position and then brake checked the RR causing the accident himself (it was just a bump of his tire). Ultimately they found the biker who was bumped and he, so far, was the only one to be arrested for reckless driving, reckless endangerment as well as other charges.

The "law abiding" bikers claim the RR driver yelled obscenities at them which is what started it. You notice the RR's window is never down. No matter what was said if anything warranted the reaction from the biker. If you see the family in the RR I just don't him as the profanity throwing type individual as much as I see a pack of bikers riding like they own the road. After the RR stopped, as he should, to address his accident, the group surrounded him and started to beat on his car and slash at his tires. It was at that point he went into flight mode to protect his family as he had every right to do. It was not the responsibility of the others to intervene and take the law into their own hands. In a politically correct world one of them with a camera would have video taped the tag and the occupants and reported them to the police and let them do their job. Or called 911 and followed until the police arrived. This incident makes me embarrassed to say I am a biker. When the bikers got to their destination in Time Square 15 were arrested and 55 bikes were confiscated and 68 citations issued.

I was born and raised in Washington Heights, the place this all went down. I have seen first hand how some of these "thugs" behave. They ride like animals, with absolutely no respect for anyone, including themselves. Im not saying that the RR was innocent of any wrong doing, but I'd have done the same exact thing. My family comes first, and if threatened by a bunch of thugs on two wheels, I'd roll over them as well. If the RR would have made a right just two blocks before he was stopped by traffic, he would have made it to a police precinct. But anyway, bad on the part of the bikers. If you go to liveleak.com, you can see some videos of the ride just previous to the event. They were on dirt bikes and ATVs(which are illegal on the streets of NY), cutting through traffic, cutting people off, riding the sidwalks, and even cutting each other off. I think its too bad only 15 people got arrested. The authorities should review the videos and make some more arrests.

The 15 people arrested were arrested in Time Square, the destination of the ride and unrelated to the incident on the freeway.

I agree with Teazer on this.. I honestly think I would have done the same thing in my truck, hell yea I would be scared and I don't think its weak for me to say that. Its hard to control one angry person in a fight, try a couple dozen angry people. A shame and disturbing that this actually happened. Makes me sad for humanity.

Other videos from the same person(see jalopnik) show that these riders aren't a bunch of nice guys.

Just general dirtbags that try and own the road.
Wish more people would drive over them.

FB is claiming that one guy is paralyzed from the RR, personally I call BS.

Here are pictures of his injury, can someone explain to me how get got banged up from the face while wearing a helmet? I am thinking the FB page must be fake, please comment.

Riding like that your asking for something bad to happen. It's fun to ride in groups but damn these guys are stupid.

...of eight, or ten. Two hundred people who can't figure out how many bikes should be in a ten foot radius? Count me out.
