Re: 1978 Honda Twinstar CM185t: The Black Pearl

Sometimes we just need to learn to live with what we have. They are a nice shape and are mounted well, so that is all good. They also will not look quite so long when you have the seat and tail piece on there. If the rear cowl extends just past the rear axle, it will help the visual balance of the mufflers. Keep going it will be fine.
I agree with this. I think they will look fine when everything is fitted up, no need to fix what ain't broke

If you bring a trailer. (4000+ mi round trip)
I got a ready to ride "BOTM winner" CB360 w title sitting here.
Ill also toss in everything needed for 378 mod.
Along with new in box Common Motor Collective solid state ignition.
And everything to convert to front disk.

Another option would be to add a bend and upsweep them. It may look great. I have those pipes on my GL and upswept them and I think they look great that way.
Thanks for the muffler input everyone, and great looking GL Maritime.

I ordered a 2nd swingarm yesterday so I can stretch mine 2" with the help of a professional welder buddy . I think the whole bike will look better a longer wheelbase and a byproduct will be making the exhaust look a little shorter.

Trek97 I appreciate the offer, you should talk to Michael but he doesn't have a place to put it at the moment, maybe you guys can make a plan for when he gets out of school. I spoke to him last night and he's doing great btw.

It's a great bike, beautiful build, well done.

Worked up a plate to mount electronics to and it will mount under the seat between the frame rails.

Also working on brackets to relocate the coil to the Twinstar's downtube today.

I have an '81 CM200T I will be building this winter, pretty close to the same bike you have. I will definitely be following your build!

Ya, same bike basically... the 185 is 6volt, yours is 12volt right?

Can't wait to see your build!
