Yeah I weigh about 145 Lbs. So I'm sure there are a lot of heavier xt riders. I don't plan on leaving the ground to much. My mainframe should be a little stiffer now that i a have welded the new cradle in and I am still using the engine for some structure.

yeah true thats not too big of a difference you don't look to heavy yourself and I'm sure at one point theres been a XT350 rider was 30+ lbs heavier than you. just a side note I know its your plans down the road but I looked into beefing up the front suspension and a rider online said he made his heavier and did a decently sized jump and bent the frame, just saying keep that in mind
Well I got some goodies in the mail today. Its starting to look a little more like a bike now. I know it looks funny with the red but you get the idea. I also got my battery mounted and started working on side covers. My rear tire is in the mail as well.
It's a Yamaha so I thought I would go with blue. I miss my wr250r. I wanted to be able o get replacement fenders etc. It was fun the 3 laps I rode it around the house.
Im kinda stuck on what to do as far as hiding my battery and electronics. I need to make some sort of side cover to seal everything up. I have been trying to make an aluminum panel to if in the opening, but I just don't like it so far. any ideas. Thanks.
One possibility I just thought of would be to ad a piece of sheet metal onto the seat that would extend down the sides and cover the triangular opening in my sub frame. This is just a thought. this picture kinda shows the opening.
I'd make a little fiberglass or aluminium extension to the rear of the tank at the front of the seat and put everything except the R/r in there andI would mount the R/r directly underneath it. No need for covers and still plenty of airflow to the R/R.
Well here is what i did. 14ga. alum. I still need to spend some time "fitting" the pieces so they look a little nicer, but I think it will get the job done. Thanks for all the ideas.
Those look great. I'm always a bit leary of home made side panels as they usually end up looking homemade...even as simple as they are, those look nice
Well, I didn't work on the bike much this weekend. I took the tiger out for a nice back country ride on Saturday. I say 3 deer, 5 turkeys and a big red tailed hawk. It was nice to be on a bike instead of working on a bike. It was a nice brake. I did finish my side panels, and started making my seat pan (the part that will get upholstered). I think my original tail/seat prototype will work well for this. I just need to cut it down a little bit. I will post some pics once I get underway. I also got some material to make my bash plate out of. A friend of mine gave me a 4'x4' Sheet of .250 aluminum to cut what I need out of it. I also ordered all ballz fork seals, all ballz swing arm rebuild kit, and seal savers for the forks. Paint prep next week?..............................................................maybe Happy Easter by the way.
Yeah I know what you mean. My wife is getting suspicious a box comes every other day. The thing is it just makes sense to buy all my parts on line. You get exactly what you want and it's way cheaper.
