SR500 Project

I'm in Colorado snowboarding at present. And then salt lake the 31st so progress will be slow until the new year most likely.

Got home today to a load of goodies:
FZR rotor and steering stem nut from brad, thanks man
"euro" bars
A new tig torch back cap since I dropped and broke the other one
All Balls Roller bearings for the steering stem
Moose racing fork skins

and an ASV clutch lever with a thumb hot start that I'm going to adapt to the compression release on the SR

And no, it will not stay pink.

Got the stem finally taken care of and all put together thank god.
Got the rotors installed and a stay made for the rear caliper.
After that I decided to throw the engine in:

And then worked out a rear fender:

And thats about as far as I have gotten.

Next up I need spacers for my wheels to get everything aligned correctly so I can work out the front brake bracket.

Who wants to make me some spacers or has an idea where to find some ready made? 17mm ID
I'm thinking of buying some 7/8" round stock alum and a 17mm drill bit and making them that way....anyone see any issues?

Go get some gas pipe and a hack saw in a pinch old wheel bearing have ended up being wheel spacers and consider that rear fender idea stolen

Thanks guys, now just have to figure out a good mounting system for the fender. Original plan was just weld it to the swinger, but I want it to be a different color than the swinger so I need to decide how exactly to drill holes in the inside of the arm (drill wont fit)
Good excuse for a right angle drill i suppose ;D

Also got a 3/16 alum skid plate fabbed up

You can see in that picture just how much higher this bike is than stock. (probably 4")

Weld a "t" off that cross brace in front of the fender and bolt the fender to it from inside.

That may be just the ticket!

I thought i would help you with your tank. so i looked at your bike and read a few hundred of your posts, and let the sheet metal shears do the talking. I almost had no control like a artist has no control of a brush after a painting get a mind of its own

I don't know, it doesn't look like it'll hold any gas. Needs sides or something.

I'm not the smarted man in the world, but that looks like a metal dick!!!! Lmao

Yinzer hooked me up with a spacer for my axles so I can get it all centered up.
He even sent a nice note with it:
