Just traded a crummy Peavy I made into a fretless last night for an Epi SG Bass. Love it. Been looking for a short scale bass to kick around. Got to re solder the electronics though. Fucking hacks and solder do not mix.

First, I am not critiquing your studio. It is nice. But, to get the full soundproofing in your staggered stud walls, shouldn't you split your top and bottom plates leaving a gap between them to cut out down on resonance. That is just how I was taught to build them. Just curious on your thoughts. I don't play anymore due to wrist damage, but I played bass for twenty five years. It sucks to only be able to play for fifteen to twenty minutes at a time before the pain is unbearable. Now I just wrench on bikes and listen.

Left - Undated Memphis V Copy. I think it may be late 70's early 80's when Memphis was around. Plywood body. But I stained it so dark you would never know. It day Seymour Duncan 59's, Gibson Tuners (Not stock I installed those) and is a Bolt on neck. It was a trade on CL for a beat up MIC Squier P Bass I had, it was a wreck.
Right - 1973 Greco EG 380 LP Copy. One of the few non CL guiitars I have. Picked it up while visitng family in the Philippines. I did get the 70's Dimarzio SD's of CL for $30 from a guy in Berkely. This one is my favorite. Great Sustain, round punchy crunch, and ugly enough to take anywhere without worry

djelliott, I was glad I pulled the frets off of the Teisco. That thing had horrible intonation, now I can 'cheat' to get it in tune.
Still learning how to play. The pickups in it are actually two six-string humbuckers. I took it to the local Guitar Center (HAH!) to show it to a friend of mine and the bass 'expert' grabbed it and wanted to hear how it sounds. He, and everyone else standing there, were suprised at the tone.

There are multiple ways of doing it based on the amount of space and the desired level of sound proofing. In this case space was limited and the function of the room is for composition, mixing, and mastering. It's perfect for what I use it for. When I build drum booths I do them with split sills and a decent air gap plus usually a double door airlock.

Those are fun little basses. You're right about the crap intonation. They drift pretty bad above the 8th fret or so and there's really no way to adjust it. Still cool though.

I love the Gibson lawsuit guitars. I had one of the original prototype Ibanez "lawsuit" Les Paul's. Sold that along with a 1969 Vox Toronado hollowbody to put myself through law school..... wasn't worth it.

Will post picks of a ESP Viper I bought yesterday. The neck was tweeked on it, so I got it for ultra cheap. But a little twist of the truss rod and bingo! plays like a dream! It's a LTD model so it's not the flag ship.... But, I do have some nice EMG active pick-ups that I will more than likely install soon.

hey - thought id throw in my 2 cents.
been playing for ages now - gone through a fair few instruments. I bought this shecter blackjack fr the other week - it shreds! love the thicker neck on them - cant stand ibanez or jackson - feels like im holding a ukulele or something.
Im really really keen to buy an old Excetro or Teisco or something - problem is here in Australia they're in pretty short supply! Im also trying to sell my mesa boogie dual rectifier - its waay to powerful! I thought i might use it in studio - not a chance.
I also play a fender strat (new mexican one im afriad - needs some texas specials put in it) an epiphone les paul thing - a yamaha bass and a few classical/acoustic guitars. Im looking for a decent bass amp at the moment - anyone got ideas?
