Something that may help in finding neutral is the following:
Come to a halt in first, holding the clutch in.
Change up to second, then give the gear lever gentle downward pressure.
Hold front brake while slowly releasing clutch.
I found the neutral indicator light to be unreliable so I have disconnected it. I don't like being lied to by machinery!
