Mini coils work well with modern ignitions but according to Dynatech they are not suitable for Dyna S or early style factory ignitions. What has been your experience with them for the long term?

Ha! Dyna recommended them to me, lol.

My bike is literally in half, I rode it stock for 10 min, 2 years ago. Never ridden it since.

HollywoodMX, do you have the coils on the café project virago? Which one of the dyna coils do you have?

Yup. They are the mini dc3-1 IIRC.

I use dyna coils on all my bikes. It's one of the first things I usually change. Only have had positive results.

I'm not expecting any issues with the mini coils. I also have custom ignition, 8mm wires, iridium plugs, lithium battery and mosfet RR as well to manage it all.

Cool! Dyna recommended me to use dc3-2. I'll be running a lithium battery as well. Can you point me in the right direction on upgrading the tci and RR?

Nothing to do on the TCI - if it fails, have it rebuilt.

As for the MOSFET - here's where I talked about it in my intolerably long build thread, with a link to the list of r/r's that I used: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=46402.msg552021#msg552021

Ya i could have gone with the dual. Thing is with individual, if you lose one coil you can still ride the bike.

Lets give these a rearsets a go, well only one at a time. I'm also going to be cleaning up welds this week and inclosing my electrical tray.
