Ichi... you get that motor fired off yet?

That carb part should be in soon.

no.....not running yet... I'm still waiting on that parts carburetor to arrive. I'm missing the bottom part on one of my carbs.

In case you missed that, here is the video:

Re: Ichiban Moto Project : Mod for Cold Weather Riding

My carb part isn't here yet, so I spent this week adding another mod to my café racer :D
It's been getting cold out so this one will be very practical.

I put a video up on youtube for you:

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I don't know what you're waiting for on the carb, that blue tape and some JB Weld can form a real nice float bowl and get that thing fired up! i've been watching your vid's and i think with your skills, you could fab up your own in no time!

Looking forward too seeing the heated pad in operation! Keep up the good work Ichiban!

Crazy

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

Heating elements can use a lot of electricity. Make sure to put a really big fuse in there. 50A maybe?

I still think your greatest innovation is the pneumatic tools kit/dust remover adapter for the tire.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I think it's more likely that it will catch fire before the first trial run (have I spoiled the 'climax' of this 'build'?)

I think the biggest problem you'll have with the seat is that your coil is going to be losing heat to the atmosphere. You should consider some kind of heat sink - maybe fill the seat with cement?

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

Good God, where is that float bowl coming from, India via sail power? Seems like you've been waiting forever.

Cement wouldn't be too bad if going with stone but marble or granite would be better. I think it would be easier to use lead. Much better conductor of heat.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

If we're considering those types of materials, I have it on good authority that soap stone is an excellent choice.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

Stones and cement are both heavy. Using these materials for the seat would move the center of gravity higher and to the rear. It is always a good idea to put as much weight as possible on the rear of a Café, it improves the handling.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I love this shit! Never gets old no matter how many times you watch it...thanks for the laughs!

That's why cafe racers have humps in the back. That's where the extra weight goes.

Re: Ichiban Moto : Yamaha 500 cafe racer build

I installed a sweet mirror on the end of my bad ass café racer style handlebars !

It took some fabrication ...and a special tool to modify the grip ... but it looks so bitchin sick !

I put a video on youtube for you :D :

Pretty much all the best things in life have humps in the back where the extra weight goes.
