I didn't even read the poll title. I'm pretty sure a week ago when this thread started the poll title was different..... if i even read it!

The Romans understood it. If you want to connect with the mob, you dumb it down, and flash it up. Couldn't hurt to splash a little blood on it.

Communicating is like pouring a fixed amount of water in a dish. When you increase the size of the dish, the number of people you're trying to please, you decrease the depth of the content. It becomes more generic, and that has to be compensated for with smoke and mirrors. The opposite is one on one. You want quality content, go hang out at the local garage. Find a mentor. You want flash, fighting, and drama, you can get that without leaving the couch.

Is this getting into the "hollywood is the modern day Roman Coliseum" thing? If so, I must agree, TV has gotten much more shock-value oriented in the last decades. Distract the mob, with snookies.
