XS850 Cafe Close to Paint Time

Re: XS850 - Beatrix NEW YEAR, NEW BIKE, NEW PICS

The fuse box is easy, just go to NAPA, I buy them right off the shelf, and I use the blade type. I've used these on several triple's and now have one on my Seca 900....

Re: XS850 - Beatrix NEW YEAR, NEW BIKE, NEW PICS

Awesome, thanks for the tip! I guess i know where I'm taking lunch today.

Re: XS850 - Beatrix NEW YEAR, NEW BIKE, NEW PICS

I've made my decision and registered my bike.
I'm going to show the beast at Kokomoto 2013 (local growing classic bike/cafe show)
Scheduled for June 29th, so brace yourselves for updates...

Re: XS850 - Beatrix NEW YEAR, NEW BIKE, NEW PICS

Small but important update.
Glass'd my seat pan last night. Needs trimmed down significantly, but you get the idea.
Gonna work up some mounting for it tonight, the start laying foam on it.

Re: XS850 - Beatrix NEW YEAR, NEW BIKE, NEW PICS

stay with the black. matches the rest of the bike.

Re: XS850 - Beatrix NEW YEAR, NEW BIKE, NEW PICS

based on those pics, i agree.
I'm thinking about paint though. I'm not sure which direction that will take.
Right now, just trying to get a seat on and the exhaust done for Kokomoto.
After the show, ill probably tear it all down and paint everything.

Re: XS850 - Beatrix NEW YEAR, NEW BIKE, NEW PICS

I spent some quality time this weekend with a borrowed sewing machine, a camping mat, some thread, some booze, and a big 'ol can of 3m 77 spray adhesive. Here's what came out of it at the end of the night (not bad for my first sewing attempt, eh?) ;D

I wanted the top to be more tuck'n'roll-ish, but the sewing machine just couldnt pull it off. Someday, probably when i tear her down this winter, ill get it professionally recovered. but for now, its a seat, and i want to get this riding! T-minus 24 days til Kokomoto.

Re: XS850 Cafe New seat Justabout done

Alrighty, not much love, huh?
I was going to put off reworking the electronics until after Kokomoto, but I dont think it can wait. This has been my project this week:

Looks like fun, eh? Also stripped the gas tank, will pick up some body filler and start on that this weekend hopefully. Coming down to crunch time!

Re: XS850 Cafe New seat Justabout done

Got all the wiring sorted out last night, no pics because my phone died. Hopefully taking it for a test ride today (charged up battery last night).
Also stripped all my old filler off the tank (really regretted that decision) probably going to even out the dents and match the knee dents on the other side. Then time for color. Thinking a duplicolor primer and base then spraymax 2k on top of it. or i might leave the whole thing bare for a while? i dunno. pics tmrw for sure.

Heres a thought tho?
Comments?

Re: XS850 Cafe New seat Justabout done

Back together with new ignition, cleaned up electronics, battery mounted, new fuse box, new grips, etc etc
Took her for a spin yesterday before tearing into the tank and cowl. Started hammering in the knee dents to compensate for the nice crater my bro put in it. I had it easy, since this tank had factory knee dent thingys.
