@Koconut...Yeah we are going to hack it off just before the bracket and weld a loop the shape of the seat. Also going to weld a plate and mount the battery under the seat hump.
@7-fiddy...would love to see pics! Definitely have grown to love the old triples. Just don't see too many out there. Oh and just ordered some white letter Bridgestone Spitfires. Can't wait to see how they look on the wheels. Gonna be working on getting the kick start fixed hopefully this weekend. More pics to come very soon.
will get a pic of the stocker later, but here is the project bike..
it's coming down this week and i have a standard tank on the way too..
mega props for the budget build thread also..
Ok, so kickstart crisis averted. Figured out it just has a sticking point and then it spins freely. Just a bitch to kick. Might replace the return spring and button it all back up.
Looks alot like my shelf in the basement last night, but my pile isnt as clean and tidy yet and has slotted XS850 rotors and a XS11 final drive going back on 8)
@7-fiddy....we are playing around with the idea of drilling out the rotors. Is there an advantage to bolting up the 1100 dif?
@Koconut....yeah got those mirrors for like 6 bucks thanks to ebay! I'm running a3 into 1 and kicking around the idea of putting on a short cherry bomb exhaust.
Drilled or slotted Rotors is the way to go, but you I found you gotta stay with organic pads. HH stuff kills these old rotors quik.
XS11 Final gives Lower gearing for being a hoodlum around town but is a bit too much for the interstate . Used mine form spares off my old XS11 E but you get them all day on the 'Bay for $10-$50.
Got the idea from here a few years back... http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=2278.0
BTW...XS11 guys like the XS750 FD because it's talling gearing for them and less RPM.
Cool, makes sense the bigger displacement would have shorter gears for the 750. I need to be able to take this thing on the freeway loops around Phoenix so I'm sticking with the 750 rear end for sure.
just noticed mine has Special forks on it. Gotta find some standard forks to shorten the wheelbase a bit. Standards have axle centerline of the fork whereas the Special is in front of the fork. Prolly not a BIG deal on the old dino, but I think that way.. LOL
You need to come to AZ, its like a jap bike preservation. LOL Oh and my tires came in yesterday and I think they are going to look good on the wheels. Hopefully can get them mounted up in the next few days. Spent most of last night getting Zach's wheels apart for King Midas. Here's the thread if anyone is interested in our other project.
