Project Sake Bomb....1978 Yamaha XS750 Cafe Racer

Thanks for the heads up! I will check it out for sure. The main thing I'm concerned about is that the way my seat is designed a loop isn't going to work. Possibly just a straight tube across.

Saturday night get together bbq resulted in some work on the bike. Good friends, good whiskey and good food on a beautiful Arizona evening. Thanks to the wifey for helping out and just being overall an awesome supporter of the often misunderstood obsession.

Finally got the welder dialed in and made some progress. Got the panels cut and fitted for the seat pan and repaired the shock mounts.

Finishing off the welds. Enjoying the extra space we have.

Even though it was hot, hot, hot this weekend, we were able to make some progress on both projects. Got the frame welds cleaned up and the frame repainted. Also got the front end mocked up to start figuring out gauge placement and all the details. Hopefully next will be engine drop.

Parts are starting to trickle in. Some clip on bars and gauges thanks to eBay.

Hey what size clip on did you get? Was it 35mm or 36mm. I'm about to order a set. How do they go with hitting the tank at full lock?

Cheers

Wait, I thought you were gonna use a Dime city subframe hoop?

I decided to use the battery mount as support in the back as my seat pan is so short and flat that a loop wasn't really going to work. Hopefully that will be built and welded up soon.

The size is 36mm and they are close but work at full lock if you get the angle downward a little. Another fix would be to put them above the tree clamp but that was a little high for me. It remains to be seen once the grips and throttle are on but I think it's going to work.

So after some time passing we finally are getting some of these projects moving along. Got the bike mocked up for the most part and had a little fun rolling it down the street. Its nice to see the look come together a little.

Also scored this killer Nolan helmet at Goodwill for 25 bucks. Wish I would have taken pics before I painted it though.
