small CL 360 project

I have a little more progress on the tank. I welded a plate over the rear tunnel on the tank. It didn't go down around the frame in the rear and I wanted to cover up the hole. It also gave me a place for the rear mount. I've cut off the front mounts. The mounts need to be about an inch higher. It just makes the tank sit alot better on the bike. I'll weld a couple of bolts as mounts with the threads cut off and then use the stock rubbers. Just in case someone is using the CB 200T tank on a 360, they should mock it up with the engine on the bike. Otherwise the pitcock could cause clearance issues. I'll try to get a few photos up tomorrow. Troy

you can either use a heat gun or blow dryer to heat up the glue and take it off... the only problem wiht drilling is all the shavings that will fall in there, but it can be done, then just use some silacone on the back to keep otu water and hold em in there.. got your lights done, these 3 against the lense should light it up just fine... here you go! get it in the mail tomorrow.. they are all shring wrapped and soldered tight i ran them under water to be sure... your good to go!
it has a resister set up for your ride so dont worry just plug it up and your good to go!

you can do some cool stuff with resisters and LEDS, doing this got me thinking! i am going to add a 3rd brake light on my bike using the TON of 10mm and 5 mm LEDs i got. they will act as running lights under the seat, add a heavy resister to them for running lights and a lighter resister to power lines past the first resister for brakes, so that running they are dull and when you hit the brake it bypasses the first resister and goes thought the lighter one, hense then lights get brighter! when i FINALY do my seat i will post a how to ... making your own tail lights and turn sigs is pretty easy after you get soldering and resisters down

Gonna use that JRK hell yea sounds freakin hot. Get to work so I can totally bite off it. JRKs friggin cool mods.

Nice work Joe!

I know soldering LEDs can be a pain. I wired up one of my RC airplanes with a bunch of them for night flying. I don't plan on putting any on my current bike, but I probably will on the next on which will be much more customized.

Hey Joe, That looks fantastic! Nice job. If I understand this right the running lights will run through the resistor and brake will have it's own wire that bypasses the resistor??

"...really digging the 200 tank bro really like the pads gonna get me one for later." Just so you know to use this tank on a 360 it will take some modifying. I might have been able to use the front mounts by just cutting them down and using the hammer on the tank tunnel (I had to use the hammer anyway to make room for wiring) but I like the looks with the tank up. Here is a comparison

Tank at stock postition in front (it is raised in the back because I would have had to hammer it out to make it fit down over the frame) The bare grind marks on the frame is where I'll weld new mounts. (please excuse the wiring mess)

Here is the tank where it will sit. It doesn't look it in the photos but it sits much higher.

Hey man, are you from Texas?? ;D This from ABC News ....More than 30 residents of Stephenville, Texas, claim to have seen a UFO, described as a mile-wide, silent object with bright lights, flying low and fast. And now it's actual front-page news. So what was it?

"It was very intense, bright lights," said local newspaper reporter Angela Joyner. http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=4142232&page=1

i did not set these up like that, they are just set to run as runing lights, you will just wire them to the running light power and the ground... then the light that comes in the unit run the brake line and ground that as well... when the bike is just on these 3 LED's will be on, when you hit the brakes, the stock light from the unit will turn on... these will just work as running lights, i wanted to make sure they where bright enough so that you can be seen durring the night and day so i did not run a duel resister set up.

Very cool Joe. I can't wait to get them. I would send a bottle of homemade wine, but if you are picky you may not like it. I've got some grape/blackberry that's afew months old and I have some habanaro pepper wine that is only good if you are outside and its about -5*. It is some pretty potent stuff and you have to like hot things. lol

ha ha ha man you are talking to someone that is marry'n a greek girl! i have over 200 bottles of wine at the house... blackberry by magen david is my favorite (super cheap like 7 bucks for a 2 liter jug), drives my girl crazy that i like cheap wine... but hey, you like what you like right... but i drink any of them... never thought i would ever EVER drink wine... but once i started and started to visit the winerys and speak to the wine makers it reminded me of bikes, they put so much into it and take so much pride in it... sure, it may not be everyones cup of tea but it is what they like... kind of like us cafe builders... i am flattered by the offer man but the $ in sending that wine woudl be up there... hold on to it, someday maybe we can crack the bottle in person... still got my "goldwing fund" going... maybe this summer i will crack and buy it... then let the TOURING begin!!!

Here is a photo of the tank on the bike at the new heigth with the rear tunnel plate on. I'll use a little spot putty to blend in the plate.

I bent the rear mounting tab up to make a mount for the rear. Tank will slide over this an will be held on with a couple of bolts

Man, I knew your ole lady was into wine from one of your earlier post, that's why I said if your picky. Anyway, there is some beautiful country here if you ever make it this way. Would deffently love to crack a few open with you. Maybe by then the wine I have will be seasoned a little more and it would be better lol.

Nope, I'm in SC. I fly it at my office which is right next to a small continuing ed college. It is electric so it is virtually silent. I like to fly it over the parking lot and freak out the students. It has two superbright whites that point fwd/down as landing lights. When it is flying over and they point right at you, they are very bright.

Too funny!

I have a little more progress on the tank and seat mounts. First I welded the bolts on and cut them down for the new front tank mounts
DSC_0134.jpg

I then had to cut the old rubbers down to fit. The thing about the 200T tank is that the mounts are exposed. They should blend in once painted the same color as the frame. The tunnel is also sticking up a good bit, but you have to get your head down and turn the handle bars to see just how much. Just about like this (the tank is mounted)
DSC_0129.jpg

I then moved on to the seat brackets. I was going to use the factory hinge at the front but it would rotate the seat too far forward and it would require way too much room between the seat and tank to work. I like things real simple and neat. Simple brackets with a bolt down through the seat. Here I'm getting ready to weld the front bracket
DSC_0140.jpg

Front bracket welded and you can also see the bolts for the tank
DSC_0141.jpg

seat mounts done. Just need holes to mount the seat.
DSC_0142.jpg

Here the tank is mounted and the seat just needs a couple of bolts. There will be a small space between the seat and tank.

i love you build up, i just got the same tail light and im not sure how i wanna use it, if you can please post up pics looking at it from the rear and some sorta up close that would be great!
thanks

That gives me a good idea Joe. I wanted my turn signals to be running lights as well. I was going to try to get a dual filament bulb socket in them. Instead, I should be able to put an LED or two in each one and wire them up that way, like you are suggesting for his taillight. Should be minimal additional power drain. If I ever get around to doing it, I'll put it in the $50 mod thread.

I have a bunch left over from when I wired up my plane. I got about 50 of them from Hong Kong for about $20 with resistors.

Derek, I'll grab a couple of photos next chance I get.
I have a question about batteries. I need to find a much shorter battery. Mine is about 6.3" tall and produces 12 ahr, ccr is 113. If I can't find something shorter I'll have to mount it at the swing arm :(
Does anyone know what the least/smallest I can get by with? A gell battery won't help. There is no more room horizontal than vert. I'll be running a starter, head and tail light, Plate light (probably a couple LEDS) and spedo light. Any help would be appreciated. I thought about ordering a few of these....LOL http://www.tekbattery.com/battery_prices.html
