small CL 360 project

Make sure you don't run the bike too lean with that paint, I had mine done with the same stuff and it yellowed/bubbled on the head when I was playing with my carbs.

I called a local honda shop today and they have them in stock. $8.99 each and $2.99 for the gaskets. I'm still searching for now. Seems to be a few good deals on ebay but I've missplaced the part number . I may wait to swap them out because I have my eye on a few other items.

Got some things done over the past couple days, but not without a few steps backwards first. Decided to repaint the motor mounts silver. They were painted black (epoxy) about 6-7 days ago. One word of advise, don't try to repaint over epoxy too soon. I sanded with 220, cleaned with dish liquid, then mineral spirits. Let dry for about an hour. The hit with silver and got this (ended up stripping it down after this and starting all over. This stuff must off gass forever!)

I don't have vise yet. Doing this by your self is a bitch so today son helped with wire brushing bolts.

spent a good amount of time cutting spades into the battery box. Still needs more filing and sanding but didn't turn out too bad

Thanks guys. The spades are far from perfect (deff look homemade-free handed), but the box is lighter and besides they will be hidden under the seat. Any way, have a little more progress...

Battery box. It looked like a solid black box in photos so i painted a piece of paper so the spades could be seen. I'm thinking of JB welding some screen behind them.

I still yet have to prep and paint the front wheel. That will be my next step. The carbs need something done to them (cosmetic) but I don't know what. The tank still needs finished and painted.
The project is turning out much better than I had thought it might, so I'm considering different (purchasing new) rearsets. I think my rear sets would work fine, but they could be better. My shifter runs on a brass bushing instead of bearings and the brake lever (if not both levers) look homemade. The project may deserve better, but I'll see how my funds are. I've ordered my battery and rectifier and headlight ears (still need bucket..., anyone???) and I'm looking at nicer clocks.

looks good man! looks really good! i like the spadeds like that... when it is painted it looks professional man! love the whole set up just looks awesome!

Hey thank you guys for the props. Its much appreciated!
JRK, I sent you a pm re: new clocks. I found one I like (cheap on ebay) but I don't know if it'll work. I believe its a 1:1 ratio but I believe they ahve the same in 2:1 Also dont know about the cables ???

I found a problem with my rear sets. Who the f moved my kick stand?? I swear it was not in the way before. I'm also thinking about changing the lever to bearings (Like Herm did on his hommade sets) instead of a brass sleeve. I think it may fit a little better. I just gotta play around to see what will work with the kickstand.

Found a couple of nickle plated plugs to fit in the riser holes. Not sure if I'll use them. I'll post up photos when I get the chance. Troy

Hey Big, silver is what I was thinking too. Although brass would match the screens in the v stacks??

Here are the nickle plated plugs. I have to wrap them with something to help them fit tighter in the holes because they are just a tad too small. I'm leaning toward using them. What do you guys think?

Looks great Troy! I used the same ones but chrome, dab them with some clear silicone adhesive and they'll fit nice and snug!

Thanks guys. It's great getting all this support! I have to admit that it sometimes seems like an up hill battle that is taking forever. Hearing the comments is a real pick me up ;D

Herm, that is a great idea. Thanks
Well I panicked over the kick stand vs shifter. All is ok, but I'm still thinking about changing the shifter to bearings instead of brass sleeve.

I made a pair of shims out of water pipe (not sure of the exact size) for the foot pegs. I painted them the same color as the frame and mounted with grade 8 bolts and washers. Put my homemade brake lever on to see how it looks. Not too bad..., but... i'm unsure if I'll use it. It really looks different. Maybe it needs a different color??? There is no doubt that it will work, but I just don't want it to look, how do I say, 'getto'.

Screens are painted and mounted in the battey box with JB weld. I'll grab a photo at first chance.

Thanks Big, I've kinda locked myself up with the bike this weekend and have been getting a good bit done. First, have you ever bid on something on ebay and don't know why. Well I just bought a rear set, shifterside only. Looks pretty nice, but don't know if I'll use it. The only way I will is to buy something for the other side. Anyway, picked this up for $31 plus $14 shipping.

battery box with painted screen. Thanks Big!!! I really dig it. (Man I keep thinking if I didn't take such big pictures all my flaws wouldn't show up. haha)
