The (project currently without a name) build.

I gave my son his first welding lesson yesterday while installing my seat mount/stiffening brackets. I think he'll be ready to strike an arc by his 4th birthday.

The (project currently without a name) build.

Tiny update: I haven't had a chance to mess with the carbs any further but I did get my seat-mount brackets cut out. They are made of 3/16" mild steel and once I holes to through-bolt to the seat base, I can weld them onto the frame using 7018 rod (I'd just MIG them but my machine isn't here)...

Stupid CV carbs... (1983 GS 650gl)

I just got the carbs back together and on the bike after cleaning them and replacing some hardened rubber parts. I managed to get it running with a shot of starting fluid but it would only run on full choke and crazy-high idle (sorry, currently no tach but sounds like 3k+). I messed around with...

The (project currently without a name) build.

I've had a couple of days to work on the bike and put the carbs all back together. Tracking down the o-rings for the vents and connector tubes was a pain but I think I'm ready to get this thing going. Once I'm confident that it'll run, I'll start cutting out my seat base from 3/4" plastic board...

How to increase the visibility of Her (motorcycle) arse?

How do you ride a motorcycle with that stick wedged in your ass? And how did you ever find room for both the stick and your head? :D

Really hard to tell from the pic.

The (project currently without a name) build.

Thanks, Gary! I got it running yesterday, huge step forward. It didn't like to idle without the choke and it dies out at 1/4 throttle so I've got to do a real carb re-build this time. It's a good opportunity to jet up a size for the 4-1 anyway though I'm a little worried that my intake setup...

Well, the seat idea is scrapped for now. I tore the vinyl cover and I really didn't want to spend any money on it since it's cobbled together from parts I had laying around. While the transition looked pretty decent, I decided to buy a ready-made and go from there. I found an ABS seat on fleabay...

    The old offset monoshock idea...

I've been back to work on my GS and I had an idea a while back of converting it to an offset monoshock like the BMW setup. The consensus seems to be that you need a shock long enough to be comparable to the original so it can be mounted at roughly the same angle as stock to decrease the chance...

I did a quick mockup with the new tank, looks like it's going to work out better than I'd hoped.

The (project currently without a name) build.

I know everyone has been checking this thread daily, perhaps hourly, since October of '11 so I figured I'd do a little update. :D I've been stupid-busy with work and sorting out my 4-wheeled vehicle troubles but I finally got the old GS into my shop and did some messing around. I hacked up the...

Suzuki GR650 - back to work...

Re: Suzuki GR650- Opinions needed please Not digging the stickers, to be honest. They make that awesome paint look cheap. Maybe on the front of the tank?

Suzuki GR650 - back to work...

Re: Suzuki GR650- something big is brewing...... I've got the same tank, I think. Were the sides easy to hammer in? I tried it with another tank and had a bit of trouble keeping the dents even on both sides.

    Do your twins hang low?

I haven't had a lot of time for the bike lately but I thought I'd post a couple of pics to try and retain a little interest. The seat pan has been bent and hammered a bit more but I've got a ways to go on it. I'm thinking about grinding off the tread before I do any more with it since it...
